If Texas Tech loses, ole miss should be in the mix for a first round bye

Let’s assume OSU is 1 seed, UGA is 2 seed, and IU is 3 seed. Here’s the resume comparison for the remaining 1 loss teams for the 4th seed and final bye:
Worst Loss:
Ole Miss #2 UGA on the road by 1 score
Oregon #3 IU at home by 2 scores
BYU #6 Texas Tech
Aggies #13 Texas by 2 scores
Texas Tech Unranked ASU
Best Win:
BYU #6 Texas Tech (only with a mulligan which no other team got)
Ole Miss #8 OU on the road
Aggies #10 ND thanks to a botched PAT
Texas Tech #11 BYU (also lost to them)
Oregon #16 USC
So Texas Tech has the worst loss by far, and I doubt the committee wants to jump BYU from 11 all the way to 4. Head to head, ole miss has a better quality loss and bettter quality win than Oregon. If people weren’t still pretending like Penn State was a good win I bet we would already be ranked higher.

With only one loss, Ole Miss should be considered for a bye. If UGA loses to Bama, that would give them a second loss. If IU gets blasted against OSU, Maybe IU falls out of the top 4 entirely? That’s one scenario I guess. I don’t really expect BYU to beat TT. They looked completely overmatched the first time they played

If Bama beats UGA, Bama gets a bye and ole miss is stuck behind UGA based on head to head

That might help Texas if BYU loses as well..
They already moved us past Vanderbilt, maybe this moves us past Oklahoma as well? We did finish above both in the SEC standings.
Bottom line: Play-in games during CCG weekend are the answer moving forward.

ole miss doesnt even have a better resume than A&M. They just have the fortune of their lone loss being over a month ago and the average person cant remember what happened more than a week ago.

Added Aggies into OP, but you can see they are still below ole miss in terms of best win and worst loss.
And that’s before we get to the 30-3 half against USC. By far the worst half of football any top 15 team has played all season.

Ole Miss has a strong argument. No doubt.
Road loss at UGA being the only blemish.
But if you want to talk about looking bad. Washington State came into Oxford and looked like the better team. That’s a bad Washington State team.

Wazzu also played UVA - another possible playoff team - even closer. Not a good team, but not a pushover if you take them lightly coming out of a bye.

i dont understand the point in playing 12 games and factoring in advanced metrics if people are just going to cherry pick a couple of the games to try and further their agenda.

UVA now lost to Duke. Couldn’t stop the run at all. Not a very tough team.
