16 seasons as a head coach

Hardware:
2 Conference USA Titles

He’s averaging 1 Conference USA Title every 8 years.

Impressive.

With Spurrier, his schtick usually came across as “guys ribbing each other”. It just didn’t seem as dismissive or smug as Lane.

Even if he was whipping you, it came across as fun. Same with the way The Pirate beat A&M more than his team talent would point to. He made it fun.

Lane is just not that likable.

You know LSU is about to rock & roll, but get silverfricked is my kind of stupid humor so carry on hog.

You’re spot on because he’s almost exactly like Saban.

Saban had won a (share) of the MAC conference title before coming to LSU.

Saban was 49 when he came to LSU and Lane is 50. They are very similar and that was a good call be you! Stay on it!

Saban had 6 years of HC experience before going to LSU, not 16.

This is what just don’t get about the fangirling all over him. He’s been a HC at five stops. The only one that ended reasonably “well” was FAU. The others were either outright termination for performance or a process that spoke poorly about his character, or both. (When you don’t meet the character standards of Al Freaking Davis, that has to sting at least a little bit.)

Has he done well with Ole Miss? Sure. In six years, though, he has no titles (even when the conference is objectively less daunting than it has been in a while).

Maybe he will be a great success at LSU. To say it’s a sure thing, though, is to ignore a substantial body of work.

I think the biggest blemish on his record is not even getting one conference title at USC. He was coming right off the Carroll era, you'd think he would have lucked into at least one.

I think they were hit pretty hard by sanctions.

Yep he's nothing but a slightly improved version of Sark. Neither of them will ever win a title. He's better than Kelly, however. He will win a lot of games there.

Just about every fanbase on the rant, including Bama, would be singing a different tune if they landed Kiffin.

UGA has no reason to seek anyone else as Kirby is rock solid. The rest of y'all are insecure and deep down you know it.

I rest my case about every fanbase save for UGA being insecure enough that you would jumping for joy if y'all landed Kiffin.

Spurrier?

Lane couldn't hold Steve's jock strap when it comes to trolling. And Steve did it all before social media.

Comparing Kiffin now to Kiffin with the Vols, Raiders and USC is akin to comparing Saban at Bama to his time with Toledo, Michigan State and the Dolphins.

Kiffin is a good coach. There's really no question.

He's just not THAT much better than one of dozens of other coaches...most SEC teams included.

He's just like many of our politicians have become. He's an entertainer who wants to drive clicks and who craves constant attention.

He'll do fine at LSU, but he's being paid about double what he's actually worth.

Sanity needs to prevail at some point.
