Don’t all of these hires feel… lazy?

Sumrall, Golesh and Silverfield all feel like lazy hires. Just go for the G5 coaches with the best record with little research into their careers.
Did anyone even try to search for a diamond in the rough? A coordinator? Kick the tires on NFL guys?
In the case of Sumrall and Silverfield, both followed successful guys at their programs who built winners so I’m hesitant on how good they actually are.

Lazier than keeping Dabo?
Prolly not.
Actually, I’m just messing with you. He’s the best guy for you all.

Imma give credit to the teams hiring up and coming coaches. If they hit on one, longevity is a wonderful thing in this business.

If you want elite coaching talent, you go to The Belt

ADs are loathe to take big risks these days.

Fritz, Sumrall's predecessor, had a great QB and that was the main reason for his success. Sumrall has accomplished the same with significantly less at QB.

Who would you have suggested?

I hear Jimbo wants to coach again. He has so much of our money you can get him cheap.

Don't confuse laziness with incompetence.

What would you consider not lazy?
The reality is the list of realistic coaches out there who are able to get delusional fanbases where they want to be is very short and getting shorter every year.
All of the current P4 head coaches started as position coaches, moved to coordinator and some have proven themselves as HC at the non-P4 level, some went straight to P4.

Some team is going to get a steal if they hire Will Stein, the OC at Oregon. He's a great OC and has a great rep for developing QBs.
He's one of a few coordinators that are not getting looked at much and its a shame.
