Because they were 6-3 in their non rent-a-win games and 3 of those victories were against the three worst teams in the SEC. That's why

How many teams have played #1, #3, #4, #8, and #14?

Horns were more than impressive last night.
Playoffs should be earned with the entire body of work of a season in mind, not just the latest game played.
Like most every other system that’s been in place, most years there’s always going to be that one or two schools that raise hell because they feel “left out”.
There’s never going to be a system that removes that dynamic totally (unless the money grubbing string pullers who rule CFB just expand the playoffs to everyone….which one can never totally rule out anything when it comes to those weasels I suppose)

Florida loss looks bad. If they were a 16 or 24 playoff only. FSC has a 24 team playoff.

This is not an unfair take. If Texas played GA to the wire it might be different.
However, there is the issue of teams that are clearly Texas' inferior getting in before them. You've got OU and A&M in and Texas has the head-to-head. Then other cupcake-schedule teams like Miami, ND, Tulane, etc. I understand the rationale of conference representation, but it's clear that TX is substantially better than some playoff teams.
