Been to both.
The nicer parts of BR topple the nicest part of Oxford. 75% of BR is a shithole, but it’s got some really nice areas

Baton Rouge can be really nice if you have the money. For most folks, I agree it sucks but Lane won’t have that problem.

You can live in little old Oxford, out in the sticks if you want to. Kiffin would be perfectly safe, living in the country club of Louisiana and staying in South Baton Rouge. There’s also a great tourist city 80 miles down the road.

I drove through Baton Rouge the other day on my way to visit my parents in Mandeville, LA. It is such a shite hole.
