Parity has arrived in the conference.

Coaching is going to be way more important in the next few years.

I don’t know how much of it is parity in the usual way we think of it. The new time controls where the clock keeps running when people go out of bounds is shortening the game a lot. There are fewer plays, and fewer drives. It makes sense that the games will be closer with less opportunity to separate.

I once watched us get beat 52-0 in the Swamp and 47-0 in Athens and 49-0 at home against LSU and 56-0 to Alabama.

The worst teams in the conference are hanging with the best teams. Arkansas would be 95-17 this decade if they would have won every one score game. Mississippi State could realistically be 8-1 this season if a couple plays go their way in tight games.

No true blowouts anymore. And that’s good.
