Coach of the year. Texas A&M looks better than they have since the RC Slocum days. The early Sumlin years with Johnny Football were fun, but this is a very complete team.

If Elko didn’t look like a goober he’d be rightly viewed as elite.

If programs used moneyball paradigms to hire coaches instead of big money boosters he would’ve gotten a shot at a big job long before A&M for what he did at Duke.

If he keeps winning, I don't care if he looks like Mark Mangino.

Right, because that was the reason.

Looking like a brilliant hire by A&M, unfortunately

Exactly.

Fat coaches and goofy coaches like Drink at Mizzou get undervalued for non football reasons.

LSU fans are doing it right now talking about Drinkwitz not being a good fit. The guy just wins with less.

Right, because that was the reason.

Then what was the reason he sat at Duke for years winning 8-9 games a year after crushing it at A&M as a coordinator instead of getting a bigger offer?

He coached at Duke for all of 2 years before coming to A&M. WTF are you even talking about?

BTW, Elko is also an Ivy League graduate. It's not like schools feared he would embarrass them.

My point is that coaches get overlooked for non football reasons.

A&M knew his value because he’d already coached there.

Alabama fan making comments on what someone looks like.

Oh the irony.

Drinkwitz is meh.

He beats up on weak schedules and loses the big games. We could've just kept BK and got that.

Xs & Os > “looks”

But he looks pretty “elite” right now. Carry on with your evaluation of relevant coaching variables though.

100%. Great hire.

A&M is very fortunate Stoops turned them down. Not getting your first choice sometimes works out way better. Just ask Alabama. In 2007 Rich Rod turned them down so they had to “settle” on Nick Saban. (Sarcasm on the settle Bama fans).
