These two men have approached the road to redemption in opposite manners.
One man has chosen the path of repenting to those he hurt and "forgetting the things behind." His job is his to do and he does it.
His past sin no longer shapes his life.
The other man has made his repentance a publicity stunt, and now everything he does and all his decisions have Devine purposes. When negative results are questioned, he justifies them with "God sent me here, and refuses to change tactics.
This man refuses to change with the evolution of the game.
That leaves us with two possibilities regarding the outcome of the game.
One possibility is that the final score will be the result of the preparation, conditioning, game plan, execution, coaching, adjustments, and determination of the players and coaches.
The other possibility is that the outcome of the game is in God’s greater plan for this one man's (namely Freeze) predetermined path in life. In this possibility, no matter what happens, it was God's will, win or lose, nothing this man did or didn't do could have changed the outcome.
Then, in the coming days, he can preach how God had him fired for his greater good.

If we're judging the personal qualities of the head coaches, I'd give a slight edge to Petrino; it would be a lot larger edge if I was certain that he hadn't sandbagged Pittman in the Notre Dame game just to get the job, but that's just a slight suspicion.
If we're judging the teams, I'm going to give a slight edge to Auburn. They have a legit defense, and having watched Jackson Arnold have his way with a Big XII defense to start the season, my guess is that he will look pretty good against Arkansas's defense.

Gotta lean Petrino because although he was fooling around, to my knowledge there's no evidence he was paying for it.

He was definitely paying it.
$20,000 worth paying
The point however, is that Petrino isn't isn't using grace of God for yesterday's sin to avoid responsibility for today's bad coaching

Doesn't matter...
Hugh is Southern Baptist... and Petrino is Catholic.
And there is no south thing as the Southern Catholic Church.

So, does this game settle the protestant v catholic?

Somewhere old Dan smiles.
As for the game, rooting for the Monty Python hand of God to smite them both.

Wouldn't be awesome if both teams could lose this one?

You don't understand, this isn't about football.
Football only exists to show HIS hand on FREEZE.

Petrino wasn’t sandbagging, the players just quit after they overlooked Memphis in a loss

Hugh knocked up a high schooler at Briarcrest and will be burning in hell once he departs this earth.

"Calvin's been defeating Catholics since 1530"

This time the Baptist needs to take a lesson from the Catholic on grace
