In 2019, one SEC team averaged less than 3.4 YPC in conference games. Right now, 7 teams are below that number.

It's popular on here to post about how the transfer portal has made college football worse, with somebody's grandpa talking about mystical themes such as "passion" and "loyalty." But shitty and disjointed offensive line play might be the biggest imact that the transfer portal has had on college football. It's pretty frigging bad right now.

Second time I’ve seen this mentioned here today. Pretty interesting and actually makes a lot of sense

Yeah, it's not like there are tons of former Alabama players constantly on the sidelines or anything that shows their passion and loyalty.

Oh wait.

And Georgia wasn't the job Kirby wanted or anything, it just randomly happened. He obviously has no real passion or loyalty to that program.

fricking tard.

For Texas it’s because Kyle Flood loves to recruit fat, unathletic 3-stars and not coach them up.

I’m curious if he did the same thing at Alabama or if Saban was keeping him honest.

Kyle Flood was the last time Bama had a consistently great run and pass blocking OL

We were very happy when Flood came over with Sark, because of the success of Alabama's OL. This year our OL is dogwater but even last year when we had a supposed top 5 OL in the country we couldn't run block for shite against decent defenses. The A&M game being the one hilarious exception.

It’s shittier bc the quality of play is shittier bc of lack of depth and talent. It’s really not rocket science.

The normgroid fans of middling programs yell “yeah everything is on even footing now !” Yes, and the quality of play absolutely sucks. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t like to see Georgia at the level they were at 2021-2023 but also I’m not gonna sit here and pretend the 2 hand touch defense I watched ole miss vs Georgia play last week was good for the sport. Even if it was an entertaining game.

You can certainly see it in short yardage situations. I used to assume teams would get first downs or touchdowns with 1 yard to go but now its shifted so heavily that I now expect the defense to get the stop

THIS.

There is a reason that even 4-5 star lineman were often redshirted. It takes time for a unit to gel, much more so than skill positions with the exception of QB. A QB or one WR can make a game changing play even with little to no help. A single CB can shut down half the field.

Half the O- line can pancake their assignment like a panzer unit, but the backside guard doesn't grasp the audible to slide out to help the tackle and its second and 13 instead of a game breaking run.

Flood has clearly lost his fast ball. Saban masked a lot of deficiencies from his assistants
