It's a razor close call either way. The refs basically guessed and the on the field call stood. Would have stood if they guessed the other way.
This sorta goal line fumble call isn't particularly new or noteworthy imo. It just sucks when it's ur team and ur on the bad end of one.

The real question here is who taught the dumbass Auburn QB to hold the ball like that on a sneak? Lol
If you are this close to the goal line you go up high with the ball and then fall forward. Leave no doubt.

At the end of the day, they screwed it up.
Should have been either AU TD or UGA TD. Not UGA ball at the one.

Looks like a fumble to me, but I also wouldn't have blamed the refs for calling it a TD either.
In real time, I thought it looked like a TD.
But Auburn fans with their still images as "proof" have made me think it's a fumble because they seem unable to produce an image showing the ball over the line while the QB still has control.

Good question. The players said that during the timeout just prior that Kirby told them exactly how he’d be holding it, that he’d try to hold it across and to punch it out..someone did their film work.

To me the nose of the football crosses by a hair before he lost control of the ball. It should’ve been a TD imho. The refs were awful in that game.

Makes sense they caught that on film. It’s jarring how bad the ball position is. Either hold it close to your body to prevent the fumble or hold it with your hand and have your arms extended as you go up and over.
Holding the ball with just your hands but elbows bent into your body is terrible.
