He has every right to go after the system that cost him his son. I hope he makes every single person who has blood on their hands pay. Louisiana really is a despicable state and the state police need to be abolished.

JUST IN: New video evidence appears to contradict claims made by ESPN announcers and the lawyer for LSU star Kyren Lacy for his alleged part in a deadly 2024 car crash.

Lacy sadly took his own life following a deadly car accident in December of 2024.

Lacy's attorney, Matthew Ory, recently released footage suggesting Lacy was set up and was innocent of the crash that killed 78-year-old Herman Hall.

Ory shared footage appearing to show Lacy (in the green Charger) 100 yards away when the crash took place.

ESPN announcers and other sports commentators are reacting to Ory's new statements and footage, saying Lacy was wrongfully blamed.

New footage, however, appears to show Lacy speeding in the opposing traffic lane, passing multiple cars on the wrong side of the road just seconds before the crash, as noted by LSP.

The Louisiana State Police says Lacy's reckless driving caused a female driver to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid a collision.

Lacy was the "primary cause of the chain of events leading to the fatal crash," said LSP, who cited witnesses on the scene.

Lacy sadly later took his own life on April 12, 2025, after being charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle.

I heard the cops made a real good case his reckless driving in that 40 mph zone did cause that other person to cause the crash.

This seems to be the case.

Kyren Lacy isn't innocent but he didn't "kill a veteran" either. He started the chain of events that led to the crash and the female driver caused the actual accident.

They're both at fault, no way that negligent homicide charge would have stuck.

ESPN's Scott Van Pelt Apologizes For Pushing False Kyren Lacy Narrative With Ryan Clark After MNF

quote:

SportsCenter host Scott Van Pelt issued an on-air apology on Wednesday night, acknowledging that his reaction to colleague Ryan Clark’s comments earlier in the week helped amplify a false narrative surrounding former LSU football player Kyren Lacy.

Van Pelt admitted he got it wrong, saying his reaction Monday night fell short of the facts and that key details were missing at the time, which changed the full picture.

quote:

"Late last week, the attorney for former LSU football player Kyren Lacy released a video challenging the version of events that Louisiana State Police used to cite Lacy in a December auto accident which claimed the life of 78-year-old Herman Hall.

"On Tuesday, State Police released video and records defending their initial findings, which alleged that Lacy’s operation of his vehicle created the chain of events that resulted in the crash that claimed Hall’s life. Lacy’s car is seen traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong lane just prior to the incident.

"Lacy faced several charges, including felony negligent homicide, but died by suicide days before a grand jury was set to convene — meaning his guilt or innocence will never be determined in a criminal court.

"The one certainty here is that this was a senseless tragedy in December, magnified by a second life lost in April. I apologize for the incomplete reaction that aired on this show Monday night."

Possibly. Tough to say definitively without seeing all the evidence, and you never know what a juror may decide (assuming it eventually proceeded to a jury trial).

I think SVP sums it up well:

Just awful for everyone involved.

It seems like Lacy was definitely driving recklessly and the female was probably distracted and overreacted.

Some people say the truck in front of her slowed to make a turn, some say it slowed to avoid Lacy, either way she overreacted and was following too close. And Lacy was driving like an idiot.

Sadly, an innocent man lost his life for their actions.

I get that defense lawyers are always going to advocate for their client's 100% innocence but that video he provided never felt like the whole story when i watched. It was a completely shitty angle and only really showed a very limited portion of the incident. Didn't say "exonerated" to me. Just made me ask "what happened to the right and left side outside of this video"?

State was right. Lacy was the cause of that accident, plain and clear, as many witnesses at the scene said.

Dont be fooled by this hired gun's sleight of hand.

His traveling 80mph in a two lane congested hwy and passing cars in the opposite lane over a no-passing solid double line was the implementing cause.

by video evidence he was about 2-3 seconds from a head-on collision. The lady panicked and made a fateful
decision to swerve left instead of right into telephone poles.

Kyren was a beautiful soul filled with promise and potential. I received the news early Sunday morning while at my twin's volleyball game. One of the other parents told me, and I hoped it wasn't true. When Twitter confirmed the sad news, I became emotional because this kid was part of our community. We want all these kids to enjoy the rewards of the hard work they've put in since Pee Wee Football.

Mental health is a significant issue in our community, especially among men. We are often taught to compartmentalize our feelings, to be tough, and to suppress our emotions. However, I've learned that it's okay to cry and to let it out, but it's also important to seek professional help to navigate difficult days.

I wish Kyren's family could have recognized the signs earlier; perhaps we wouldn't be having this conversation now. My heart goes out to the Lacy family. May God watch over Kyren’s soul.

Sorry. Mr Lacy, but it appears your parenting either was sub par, or it never took.

The guy lost his son to suicide due to the backlash. I personally think people can now stop throwing hate their way. Just let the man vent.

Possibly.
Come on. If he wasn't speeding in the wrong lane nobody swerves, nobody.

I feel terrible for his family and all involved in that accident.
