Have to think its a bit of a long shot but Pat Murphy has done wonders in Milwaukee, granted he has way more experience

Doesn’t Tony make as much if not more than a MLB manager?

Say what you will about him, Tony is great for College baseball. Regardless of how you look at him, love him or hate him. He’s great for the sport

Huge Tony V fan. He pisses off LSU fans more than Bama does even.

That is a positive
He’s good for the sport of college baseball and it would be a shame to see him leave for pro ball

Would MLB guys put up with his antics?

Yes. But, the MLB pays 1-5 million a year for managers.

Vitello is making like 3 million.

Pros: no recruiting or portal or NIL drama that keeps HCs employed and involved year round.

Cons: lower threshold to be fired in the bigs. He could stay at UTk for a long time.

It is a choice. It is an ego boost and he could always return to college ball.

I think it would be hard for him to turn down if the salary is in his desired range.

We are lucky to have him. We better match any offer he gets. I get it if he wants a job at the highest level of baseball but to me he seems more suited to college. He’s a Tennessee legend either way

Eh, he’s not nearly as douchey as he used to be. And we’re working on #9. He can stay.

Tony V has been very complimentary of LSU’s superior coach, Jay Johnson.

There are about 5 schools that are better gigs than most MLB jobs....most of them are in the sec....doesnt seem like there's really an upside at all unless he just wants a change of scenery.

Plus California taxes vs no state income tax in Tennessee.

And general cost of living in San Fran vs Knoxville.

It would certainly have to be the right price. But, men do a lot of things for ego.

Giants already have one UT douche, Drew Gilbert, so that's probably enough.

It would be heartbreaking but for the right price idk how he turns it down. He has already accomplished everything there is to accomplish at the college level. Either way he is a legend in Tennessee forever

Haha I’m just glad we finally got one. I’m also glad to just be competitive in baseball with all of the historically good teams this conference has.

Vitello makes the sport more fun. I like the little baseball rivalry that has developed between LSU and Tennessee. Would hate to see him go. You want to play against the best.

Con - its less money
Pro - its not fouking college baseball, the 3rd biggest sport in college.
