At first I was a little annoyed with Kentucky and Vandy but then I saw we have, Bama, LSU, Auburn, Texas and Aggie. That seems a pretty fair deal

Weaker permanents are compensated for by stronger rotating. And many times teams fluctuate from being strong to weak.

Something they did that I like is they staggered the rotating games. So you don’t play the same teams two straight years.

The schedules are tough, but it’s a lot of good games and the fans get to see their team play all the other teams.

I actually don't like that.

With roster turnover these days you might be lucky to have 25% of your team left from the time you last played that opponent.

I want the "remember when that late hit #57 did on you last year?" kind of animosity between the players.

That is true. I think what they were thinking is, you’re not going to have Georgia on the schedule two straight years, or the weakest team, etc., which I think some took as unfair.

I also like the staggering. Big12 did the back to back in 2 years thing, many times it didn't work out well for the fans home games. Doing it with the staggering also allows the needed flexibility to get in 7 home games even if you have a neutral site rival game and the required substantial P4 opponent.
I also like that after 4 years the 3 permanent "rival" games will be reviewed and can be altered.
The SEC nailed it with this effort.

I guess Texas let's Sankey keep his job. Now let's talk about location for SEC Headquarters, CCG location, and Dallas.

I know right on the regular season being better than playoffs.. some of these schedules.. you're playing murderers row of college football and you don't play just two or three of the teams you got five of those teams on your schedule.. it's going to be insane... So yes Texas and Oklahoma, now you see why you're playing cupcake in November lol

Absolutely!
There's going to be 9 weeks of really good competition. Each week will have at least two or three good competitive matchups. The scheduling process the SEC whipped up is pretty dog gone good! Seems very balanced with respect to strength of schedule.
This blows up the other P4 conferences and places SEC back to the front for viewership. Renegotiation of TV contracts are in order.
..
To repeat, I think it's really good that team permanent games will be reviewed every 4 years.

Edit...I bet the other P4s try to use something like this soon.

Ole Miss and Arkasas should have switched Oklahoma.

Ole Miss has played Arkansas 67 times and our states adjoin one another. We've played Oklahoma twice and we're 650 miles from Norman.

Arkansas adjoins Oklahoma and they have more of a football history together.

The SEC got this one wrong

B1G is laughing their asses off. Other conf's as well.

SEC is going to really beat each other up more and get less teams in the playoffs.

I like the system overall and no big issue with OUs Perm opponents (would have liked Arkansas)

What is interesting is with the rotating opponents, they ALL rotate EVERY year. So every year you have 6 conference opponets you didnt have last year

I would have thought a "Walking" schdule would have made sense so each year the 9 games are 3 perm, 3 rotating from last year, and 3 new rotating. This would be a blend of stability and variety, as oposed to the system they used wich is all variety (except for the perms) from a coaching standpaint isnt this dificult from having 6 new opponets each year to watch film on,( plus new Non-conf opponents)

Advantage of the current system is you will play the entire conference every 2 years, as opposed to a 2 on 2 off for the rorating opponents

SEC will still get 3-5 teams in the playoffs each year. The schedules are hard as shite but several teams will make it out at 8-4 or better. SoS will matter, or so they say. It's also possible the SEC gets 4 guaranteed slots when we go to 16 teams.
