I remember when the news came out about Wimp slapping his secretary...it was around the same time that the Auburn football program was in trouble with the Eric Ramsey situation...
There were T-Shirts around Auburn that said:
"We may pay our players; but at least we don't beat our women"
LOL

Gist of the reasons given for his retirement? I'm not a masochist; I made it 20 seconds into that cringe-fest before I had to stop and take a shower.

I hate how things ended up for him at Tennessee...but I freaking love Bruce Pearl. Had the chance to meet him at the airport in Denver about 10 years ago.

Yeah I’d imagine a lot of Vols would feel the same way. He’s going to be a big asset for Auburn for years to come.

I don't blame you for not watching all of that. I had actually meant to post that on the Auburn board.
He basically said that he couldn't give it his best and that it was time for a change. He isn't going into politics and will stay at Auburn. Not much different than Saban at Bama now, actually.

Thank you. Thought he had a few more years but sometimes it’s just time.

We had obviously hoped for another year but we knew it would be fairly soon. He helped turn basketball in the State of Alabama into what it is now. Hopefully it continues.

You have it all wrong. She just jumped up from her chair unexpectedly and bumped her face against wimp's hand.

Pearl was the best coach in the SEC, top 5 coach nationally. Now it's the UF coach, then Nate (G)Oates, or maybe Barnes at UT

Or she viciously attacked wimp’s hand with her face, women can be mean.

quote:Nah, but he did leave Auburn in a tough spot. Of course, Auburn doing what they do so well, gave Stephen Pearl 5 yr contract. When you're a top 5-10 program in the nation, you can pull a coach with some HC experience, and they choose Pearl Jr.
