This is a book about the end of one of Hollywood’s golden ages and the making of Chinatown. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in inside stories of what was happening from 1966 -1974. A lot of focus on Robert Towne and Robert Evans ( amazing that those guys are upright, considering how much they got laid) Of course, it also includes the Sharon Tate murder and the effect on Polanski and his work, as well as a look at studio politics. The author, Sam Wasson, is a meticulous researcher and detailed writer. If you’re a movie freak and enjoy the back story of major happenings,
I recommend this entertaining read.

I have this on my list. Stupid question though, I haven't watched Chinatown (and now can't find it online to stream), will I still enjoy the book? I love old Hollywood stuff.

It def helps To have seen the movie, but the nook is entertaining , regardless.
Lots of stuff about Robert Evans and Paramunt. There’s also interesting info about the growth of Hollywood and L.A from the 30’s through the 60’s..
Anyone who hasn’t seen Chinatown needs to do so. So get crackin, bro.
