New Auburn athletics director Allen Greene has landed in Auburn. Auburn doing best to avoid my camera. Told president Steven Leath outside airport it looks like he has his AD. He chuckled, got into car as they moved to back of airport toward a caravan out of my sight.

I'll give him credit for not blocking people on twitter like JGTate. Still have absolutely no idea why Tate blocked me, I think the only tweet his way was about what he thought about USMNT hiring Bruce Arena since he watches soccer

Yes & no
He can be a dick at times & is overly negative. But I don't think he hates AU like some complain about. Also dude works his arse off. Problem is he hasn't really seemed to develop the best of sources.
That other guy he does podcasts with tho needs to go (don't know how to spell his name but starts with N). That dude sounds miserable having to discuss/cover AU & frankly doesn't seem to know much about football or basketball.
I am constantly amazed at how bad beat writers are at actually knowing & understanding the game at more than a basic level. One of the reasons I like Justin Ferguson so much. Dude studies the game & it shows when he writes his stories on players or discusses personnel moves

Pretty sure Tate has like 2/3rd of AU Twitter blocked for no reason at all
The Rivals guys seem overly prickly imo. Honestly tho only reason I pay for 247 is because of Keith. If he leaves then I probably wouldn't pay for any sites. Tho I am curious to see when Scout finally merges what I think about Caldwell & Murphy. Never really paid much attention to them

It's something that J Tate at least works on getting better at. He says there are quite a few beat writers who make fun of him for even trying

Beat writers traditionally just report scores, stats, news/info updates and press conference transcripts. It is only recently that the readership are demanding more and that beat writer are required to inject their opinion/analysis on their controlled pay message boards/podcasts

I think SEC Country, SB Nation and Bleacher is only as good as the specific team site writers/admins. Auburn just is fortunate that the AU SEC Country staff is awesome
