It definitely was a shitty game plan by Steele. But the offense keeping the defense on the field the entire game didn't help.

It was figured out when SW and Stidham were running it. It was also figured out when we had linemen being pushed back into the handoff area.

The defense can counter read options by attacking the mesh point of the handoff but the offense can counter that too. Such as this play.

Or having athletes at QB that can still elude the players who appropriately attack the mesh.

The thing about CGM's Offense is yes people started figuring it out. Hell they figured it out during 2013, but they still couldn't stop it. The read option and RPO is the most deadly play in football if executed properly with the proper personnel. Thats the big if. With proper execution and personnel it doesnt matter if they Defense knows exactly what play is coming....they have to stop it. My old coach would tell the defense what play we were running and we had to win th eplay with the D knowing....and it worked
