I would be impressed. No raise. He is paid enough.

If he pulled that off, then yes I’d be OK with him receiving a raise. If he wins 2 of the next 3 and bowl game then he is definitely off the hot seat.

IF that crazy Bastard won out, I would agree with a raise and extension only if it was negotiated by this man.

frick yeah. That would be a pretty epic run. It would rival what Dye did to close out the 1983 season vs #7 Maryland with Boomer Esien (sp), #5 Florida, undefeated #4 UGA, #19 Bama and Bryant, and #7 Michigan in the Sugar Bowl.
Beat 5 top 20 teams in a row (4 top 10) vs 3 top 5 teams, pretty epic and you have earned your keep.

If we beat them, it won't be due to coaching. It'll be a fluke play like 2013 Georgia or 2013 Alabama, the last and only time a Gus Malzahn team beat either.

Btw, I did some research into it about 5 years ago when comparing all time toughest schedules ever (it was after looking at 2011 LSUs schedule) and at the time AU n Dye in 1983 was the only team in college history to beat 5 top 20 teams in a row. Pretty sure that is still true even with the playoffs and conference championship games.

Give him a raise for doing his job for once in 5 years yeah no.

I despise this growing hope that i feel deep inside. I know what follows. All my coping and defense mechanisms are trying to squash it. I have been able to remain pessimistic (realistic) until this week. This had to be what the Grinch felt like when his heart started growing.

I will have hope like always but there's no Cam or Nick Marshall walking through that door. Guys like that are the only equalizer to elite coaches who have figured out Gus' playbook. Stidham is mobile but not like that.
If Gus beat both UGA and Bama, and UGA again?? F yeah I would be firmly on the Bus, what more could we ask any replacement coach to do. But it's going to take things we haven't seen since 2009/10 and breaking now-two year old habits to happen -- which based on our big game track record since 2014 ATM it won't. Teams with equal or greater talent will continue to shut down an offense that consists almost only of zone read runs up the middle in which QB doesn't keep and RB gets 30 carries, obvious jet sweep to Stove, bubble screen to Davis, or deep sideline fade to Slayton. Unless the QB is mobile and can force the defense to cover the middle of the field, not sit in same positions.. that's not Stidhams strength.
I'm pessimistic unfortunately but I do really hope Gus pulls something out of his arse against these arrogant UGA shitbags.

I'm super nega-Gus and what did God say about forgiving sin (70x7) or something like that? Yeah that would be me

NO - it's not about natty champions and winning out. ***
It's about either being so incompetence that he can't tell a good QB from a bad... or ...so incompetent that he can't use a good one once found. And that goes double (bubble) for hands on receivers.... what's he looking for?
It's about having as good (if not better) running back sitting on the bench, while running the chosen one to oblivion. I wouldn't want him to coach my kid (so why should I want him to coach my team ?) it doesn't appear to be healthy for them.
It's not having a most excellent team win by the skin of their teeth, it's about not putting them in that position to begin with. It's about squeaking by because the coach didn't have balls enough to just them beat the shite out of their opponents the good-old-fashion way and not by hanging onto an ever vanishing lead by pounding away on downs 1-and-2-and-3.
IT's not about miracle plays saving the day... it's about not needing one to begin with.
It's not about him - it's about the team - and using as many of the 85 as possible. Because it's not as if many from these top 10 recruiting classes ever seem to reach their potential.
It's not about beating Georgia and Alabama in the same year. It's abut not loosing to them 3-4 times for every win.
It's about making the good out of conference teams look better than they really are.
and then there's those bowl games.
*** because I'd be more happy with the same number of wins and losses if the team lost those games and not their head coach. This clown has a great team and they very well might win 3 more despite him... and we'll be happy and jump up and down... but I'll not act like he somehow might not continue to get in their way come next year (and forever more).

I am resigned to the fact that he is likely our coach for at least on more year. If he did the above, great, though he'd need to show consistency in winning and not shitting the bed.
