Would a power set type O dominate? Gus was so successful because he was different. Now, everyone runs a shotgun O.

I don't think there's much we can do right now. This o-line is atrocious. Arkansas was living in our backfield,.... they were tackling our RB's as the ball was being handed off.

Arkansas was coming outside the tackles unblocked numerous times. There’s some
Major scheme issues to resolve aswell

Noticed the same thing. Their ends and LB's were coming off the outside untouched several times. Dont really ever recall seeing that with a Gus o-line.

Yep, this is as much of an issue as the OL, and the OL is terrible. Arky also had our snap count down perfectly and was timing their jumps. Lsu was jumping our snaps pretty well too. We have scheme issues out the wazoo right now.

CL is not a top coordinator and Gus is going to maintain control over the offensive scheming. Only thing I see is hiring Freeze as a consultant and have him input on schemes and routes. Don't know if that is even possible. But our issues have been on offense for at least 3 yrs now.

Every team sells out to stop the run now. They know exactly what we’re trying to do...we’ve become so predictable. They don’t pay attention to the window dressing like they used to. We either have to pass first to open up the run (which stubborn arse Gus will likely never do) or add extra OL and send out less receivers. Teams dare us to pass on them and even when we get it going somewhat, back to runs for one yard each on 1st and 2nd down. QB is really never allowed to get into a rhythm.

It’s like on defense...every team has gone max protect against our d-line. That’s why we have struggled bringing pressure. That’s how LSU beat us and made the QB look serviceable when he should have been on his back most of the game. I liked watching Steele trying out different blitzes from the secondary against Arky. It worked to some extent, except when we over pursue and the QB slips through for a good gain. At least he’s trying something different.

We threw an INT on the 2nd play of the game against LSU.

Play calling isn't the issue!

Where do people come up with this stuff. LSU went max protect, just LSU. I bet arkie wishes they had gone max protect.

Ark did according to Steele and the announcers noticed that even though Ark tried, AU instead of rushing just 4 or maybe 5 started blitzing every time with a DB or a DB and a LB.
So they were forcing Storey to scramble almost every time or make a bad throw.

SO it looks like Ark went max protect, but AU pressured with more this time and it worked.

They also said they were surprised with LSU's success they didn't go max protect more and it was obvious it wasn't a huge part of their game plan.

Saban tried to hire Freeze and the SEC commish blocked it.

Maybe the commish will lift the block but even so he'd be headed to bama
