baseball draw crowds like the Mississippi shithole schools? Very similar demographics in terms of population etc...
We draw 3200 they draw 8 or 10K
For one, Auburn has to create an outfield areas with coolers for students...

Because that's the only thing they're remotely good at.

I get MSU. Ole Piss ain’t ever been to Omaha. But check out their student attendance - we need that.

Truthfully? Because our fan base finds baseball boring for the large part.
Posted on 5/17/18 at 6:39 pm to CincinnatiTiger
Because people don’t really give a shite about college baseball

Well for one thing PP needs to be completely scrapped but that isn't going to happen

Because we suck. And we have sucked for decades. We will need a good 5 year run of Omaha runs to anchor a fan base.

But they have been a better program than we have.

Correct answer. Start winning and people will show up
Case in point. Basketball

I disagree. We don’t draw students. It’s cool to go to games and tailgate at other schools.
We have nothing on that...

We constantly market to students, even put a porch in the outfield where students could bring beer. And if we aren't winning, people don't show up.

Doesn’t everyone still party in the parking deck

Deck is usually packed.

Because their fans have nothing better to do than go to college baseball games in the spring. AU's fan base in ATL, BHam and Mobile aren't driving in to a midweek game or even weekend game to watch college baseball

It still is their most successful sport though

I guess what I’m really getting at is that we probably have 30,000 students and faculty and don’t even draw 5% of them to games.
My solution is to build a free expansive outfield deck in right and allow booze.

Not many people are baseball fans and college baseball quality is pretty poor.

Giving out free seats to drunk people? Sounds like a moneymaker for athletics

They used to have that, and the outfield would be packed. Then they chased everyone away and built the new dorms.

College baseball has more talent now than it ever has...hell we have a few players that told MLB no thanks so they could play in college.
It’s not about money-making. It’s about supporting the program. Most people like being outside and drinking beer.
