In theory it is wrong. The conference champions do, in theory, produce the best team in each of the 5 conferences. But that doesn't mean 2 or maybe more of the best teams in the country aren't in the same conference.

I think you meant in actuality (not theory), it is wrong.

I do agree that in 2017, Bama was the best team in the country. But I think our victory over them should have knocked them out of the playoffs since they didn't play for the conference title. Ultimately, our win HELPED Bama since they got to avoid UGA in the title game.

I guess I am a hard liner.

Why not ask about LSU? We were much closer to winning that game.

The opponent’s that we lost to have a combined win-loss record of 33-3. Will be 34-4 this afternoon.

This season was every bit as special as it was painful.

Could’ve been more special if we stole the Georgia game.
