Best finishes so far
T21
T43
T55
Only won around $163,000 so far this year.
Currently ranked 183 in FedEx Cup. I've only watched golf in last few weeks... haven't heard anything about him so far this year.
He in a slump?

Seems I should've started this thread on the golf board.
You can start a thread to bitch about money in professional sports if you like. That's not the intention of this thread.

Golf is hard, that’s all I’ve got

He realized hot chicks loved him only for his money, so he is gonna show them by not making that much anymore.

I don't think he's qualified for the Masters.

His PGA championship exemption expired. I don't think he is qualified. No way he owgr top 50 or top 50 $$. He didn't win a tournament last season either.

So Fire Gus? It needed to be said

Honestly this is probably about where I would’ve expected him to be. He’s a good bit away from his status from 6 years ago

He's been in a slump for a few years. 2012 was his best year, here are his stats:
PPR - 29
Strokes Gained Putting: -.2
Fairway % - 67
GIR % - 70
Average Score - 69.4
Compared to last year:
PPR - 29.6
Strokes Gained Putting: -.9
Fairway % - 63
GIR % - 64
Average Score - 71.3
Basically, he's hitting fewer fairways, fewer greens, and taking more putts. 2 strokes more a round, 4 more strokes when trying to make a cut after two rounds. PPR is a misleading stat. You have to look at GIR% to give it some context. If someone is putting 28 putts per round, but only hitting 50% of greens they will have a higher score than someone putting 28 putts and hitting 75% of greens.
His tee and green stats are surprisingly similar to Jason Day, but Day has a world class short game. Dufner doesn't. Day can rely on distance where Dufner can't. If you miss fairways and have an 8 iron into a green, you can get away with it. It is much harder with a 6 iron.
TL;DR: Golf is hard. Dufner isn't as good as a few years ago.

From what I hear, he's over the chase and over the lifestyle. He will still go out and try to make a couple $M on a weekend, but isn't going to do the grind of the full season if he doesn't have to.

He's 42, and even when he won the PGA, was not the longest hitter.
Tech and youth bro.

Damn, didn't think he was 42.
I thought he was mid 30s.

Isn't golf a game for old men?*
(Most folks I know didn't pick it up until getting old, breaking down, and after losing enough testosterone to have real fun.)

There is golf...which is what you allude to in your post. And then there is golf for the PGA Tour. They set the courses up to benefit the handful of guys in the world that can swing it 120 mph plus with a driver. Someone like Duff is at a huge disadvantage...if it was golf as in the past he'd be a better than average pro. His putter is balky.

He finished in 4th two weeks ago at the Wells Fargo Champioship. Led board going into weekend and faded.

Yeah, looking good today. Great front 9.
Hopefully he has gotten rid of the jibby jibbies with the putter.
