I am saying this mainly due to how this year shook out with us playing #1 Georgia, #1 Bama, and #6 Georgia again in a 4 week period.

UT being better would help us.

this does make sense. We all know the east is a cakewalk right now and bama getting UT every year has just been an easy W for them for years now. Hopefully UT will get competitive soon.

Exactly. As entertaining as the Tennessee dumpster fire has been it really helps AU if they are at least somewhat a threat

UT and UF. South Carolina would be a force if they can get their offense going.

I think pruitt is one of the best realistic candidates they could have chosen. He'll assemble a big time staff and will recruit against uga and ua the most. He'll have a lot of work ahead of him.

This is the biggest myth going regarding Auburn..... frick NO we don’t need or want UT to get their shite together.... who do you think will be dipping into north AL and all of GA for recruits?

20 years ago a guy like Kerryon Johnson (from Huntsville area with no obvious ties to AU) would’ve ended up in Knoxville.

Don’t we play UT this year? Would rather not have another tough matchup

Not gonna lie, it’s going to feel great beating the shite out of Pruitt next season.

To some extent its true not as much for Georgia but Bama’s SEC path is much easier with them having a weak Tenn. and us having Georgia every year.

Does anyone remember who Tee Martin was committed to before he signed with UT?... does anyone remember where Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown were going before signing with Auburn?... or why about the Jayson Swain recruitment (a Huntsville guy)?

Most people on here are young... you guys don’t know what it means to have a top 10 recruiting powerhouse in Knoxville bc they’ve sucked for so long.

It’s not good for us.

This is true....a good Tennessee recruits Alabama north of Birmingham and Georgia north of Atlanta like crazy.

And UGA having no competition in their own division & Bama having an easy win each year on their schedule is beneficial to us? Sure a strong Tennessee probably means we find ourselves in a few more battles with them but I would much rather fight Knoxville than Tuscaloosa or Athens for top targets

I firmly believe a good Tennessee is good for AU. This year showed that those 2 teams need more competition. We beat em both by double digits & they both are still going to the playoffs

Been saying this for like 8 years. Hopefully any of Pruitt's recruiting success doesn't come at our expense though.

Yep. I want all these teams to be hard games for UGA. That UGA somehow missed several years of East dominance while UF and UT were down is a miracle.

Hopefully they won't have the chance to seize the moment.

In a vacuum?... sure, we’d love to have a situation where UT presents a real threat to UGA/Bama while we maintain a strong program.

But in reality, it doesn’t work like that... both AU and UT rely heavily on our of state kids, and our recruiting footprints have a ton of overlap.

With Pruitt’s ties to AL and experience recruiting GA and north FL, fat chance that happens. He’s already trying to steal our top interior DL from us.

Definitely need someone in the East to be in a position to challenge UGA on a regular basis. Taking this year, I don't think there's a team in the country that could win those 3 games in 4 weeks. I get the attraction to a strong UT, since Bama has to play them too -- but how often does Bama lose twice in a season? Seems like that one loss they often get (i.e. Ole Miss) pisses them off, and then they go the distance. I'd prefer their first taste of defeat to be suffered at our hand.

I think a strong UT is indeed a concern from a recruiting standpoint. I remember those days well. We might be better off with a strong UF. You can argue that also presents a recruiting challenge, but they and the other Fla schools are not doing too shabby in that department right now, and we still get talent.

I guess the perfect scenario would be a strong SC, since we don't really compete on the recruiting trail -- but I'll believe that when I see it.

It's a double-edged sword, but the bottom line is UGA and UA are rivals; UT is not.

We may lose more recruits to UT but so will UGA and UA, and those teams will get beat up on by UT. We won't because we don't play as frequently. It's a net-positive IMO.
