Lose critical pieces:
-brown - STAR
-Spencer - glue guy
- Dunbar - solid role player who seemed to stay positive

Don’t underestimate their importance

It will be tough to live up to new/lofty expectations

I hate that Doughty had that call on him after stepping up. He had 13pts on 65% eFG some 5 Reb and generally solid defense on Guy prior to final minute

Just have to get used to seeing a different team with promise grow every year. First time we've ever been able to experience that after some success. That part feels good.

Next year's team isn't a Final Four favorite, but the pieces are there to have a good season and make the tourney if they play well and the young guys step up.

Harper coming back is huge.

Next years team has the potential to be loaded with upper classmen... we’ll just have to see who decides to leave, who transfers out, who transfers in, etc.... this class coming in should provide solid depth as well.

Purifoy, Jvon, Wiley, McLemore, and (hopefully) Harper as seniors... Samir and (hopefully) Okeke as juniors... the pieces will be there to be very good again.

If you don't think we can make it back then GTFO. This is only the beginning. Next year's team may very well have the same potential. You gotta be optimistic about the future with Pearl here and the players he's bringing in.

We can make it back but it is really damn hard

Future with Pearl here

Reality is we probably have a ~10 year maybe 15 window left with peak Pearl. We will have a lot of great opportunity and we have to hope we can capitalize

For reference, Duke had only made 2 final fours in past 15 years

It would damn sure be nice if we could somehow make it back to the F4 next year. It’s gonna be in ATL and we would flood the place.

If we can get another 8 to 10 solid years from Pearl, the profile of this program will be so much better... the most important hire will be his replacement.

Pearl was awesome at Tennessee, but the last few weeks have shown me he has legitimately improved as a coach. He’s much closer to the Izzo, K, Roy, Cal level than I thought. But, as Gene noted, even K only has 2 FF in the last 15 years. I fully expect us to have legitimate FF hopes every other year or so though.

No. He needs to prove he can win and get another school to the sweet 16 before we let him drive the Auburn program.

Y'all are funny.

We clearly are going to hire Marquis Daniels as our HC

Stevie can go coach Tenner

Making it to the final four is very very difficult, no doubt.

But take comfort in Pearl's record at Tenn. Was there a year he did not make it to the tourney?

Opportunity is there as long as we make it to the tourney.

In Pearl we trust!

I'm really hoping we start getting some great OOC scheduling out of this

Something Pearl has done well throughout his career is build teams and create roles. He’s had some good players but you’re not going to see a Pearl team carried by just one guy.

That gives me confidence for future success in our league and in the tournament.

Yes he is. His managing of the bigs with the foul trouble vs Kentucky down the stretch was simply masterful.

So is it possible that pearl could do better with non nba talent then teams who easily get one and done future nba stars? Honest question.
