Here’s a glimpse of the towering 50 foot rock climbing wall inside Auburn’s amusement park of a Recreation and Wellness Center, the full, paw-shaped hot tub plans for which recently dropped jaws… and riled syndicated columnist and former Plainsman editor Rheta Grimsely.
Rheta Grimsley Johnson column: Soaking up knowledge at Auburn's state-of-the art recreation center
quote:
The building will include a 50-foot rock-climbing wall “with an auto-belaying system,” whatever that is, “four bordering caves for lateral climbing, a 20-foot wet rock climbing wall in the 20,000 gallon leisure activity pool, a 45-person hot tub in the shape of a tiger paw and a third of a mile indoor track with a corkscrew formation and 10 feet of altitude change.”
The track reportedly will be the longest indoor track in the country. In the country.

“You’ll forgive me,” an Auburn professor emailed his department colleagues, “when in future meetings I just blurt out ‘45-person hot tub in the shape of a tiger paw’ when the next round of budget cuts or library cancellations is announced.”

WTF
Some Cessna 182's would have been a much better investment...
Or a boat.

Rheta and that professor need to STFU. This is an investment and you don't stay on top, you'll fall behind.
I love it.

The professor is a fricking dumbass. The wellness center was funding by student fees specifically allocated for student life. That money was never once going to go to the professors. Student Government paid for it and that is the reason we pay 45$ a semester instead of the old 20$ or so a semester in student fees

I'm convinced that demolishing Parker Hall would release some lethal chemical or substance into the atmosphere. The University knows this, and it explains why the building is still standing.

Ancient Indian burial ground. They are just waiting for it to collapse in on itself and travel to another dimension.

The demolition of Parker Hall has been on the five year plan for about twenty years now
