Should someone do the:
Coach A: xxxx
Coach B: xxxx
Coach C: xxxx

Etc.

I’ll agree that Bruce has done a helluva job. I also say that he isn’t doing anything that someone hasn’t done before (even if it was accomplished illegally lol).

Not an advocate for Gus, but if you take the data alone.... man it is hard to argue.

Watching them coach (I.e. watching games) on the other hand definitely impacts ability to reason with the whirlybird shite and whatnot

That’s basically like comparing apples to oranges. We’ve been a national name in football for a long time. We’ve been a doormat in basketball and baseball for a long time.

Ehhh Baird had us as a national name in baseball.

Ellis accomplished more in basketball....

We may have sucked recently, but almost everything that’s happening has happened before....

Only caveat.... without question the SEC is the toughest conference in football and the West is the toughest division in any sport

We are a top 15 team historically in football. I couldn’t even begin to tell you where we rank historically in the other two.

Still Bruce, but I love Butch. His coaching has been magnificent.

BRRUUUUUUUUUCCCE

And this thread is just the nail in the coffin on why Bill Clark needs to be our next football coach. Clearly coaches who's first name starts with a B are bound for success at Auburn

It's clearly Butch. SEC west baseball is the toughest division or conference in any sport. All he is lacking is a title and it took Bruce 5 years to do it in a less competitive sport.

Lol....

Both coaches are showing out....

Crazy to think that Butch was basically one out away from back to back CWS appearances.

Eh, I couldn't tell you anything about baseball recruiting, but it seems Bruce has the basketball program positioned better for sustainable elite-level success. Which is crazy considering our basketball was one of, if not the biggest jokes in the P5 when he got here and he took over a roster that really only had 2 SEC quality players and the one good one was a SR. And it didn't take him 5 years, we were competitive again in year 3 which is miracle all on its own, we just didn't have the depth to survive some key injuries yet at that point, we won the SEC in year 4, and made the Final Four and honestly could have and should have won the Natty barring the Chuma injury and still might've done it anyway without a missed call and a clutch FT shooter on the other team.

Obviously the rebuilding job Butch did was impressive too after the Sunny Golloway fiasco, but I don't think the cupboard was quite as bare for him and the foundation certainly wasn't as weak in baseball. Baseball was never the joke that basketball was, they were pretty much always competitive just couldn't get over the hump, and they had much more recent and sustained success to point to with Baird in the 90s to point to and say "see we have the potential, we can do that again" whereas the up and down success of Cliff Ellis in basketball was seen as more of an anomaly from outsiders and the 80s success of Sonny Smith seemed like a much longer time ago and that period was remembered more for Charles Barkley than what the program as a whole did, again from an outside standpoint. Even from the inside a lot of Auburn fans had pretty much written off Auburn basketball from having any chance of being able to have sustained success and had forgotten out potential, while I think most always recognized that baseball had some potential.

Than Pearl? Are you high?

Cliff had 1 regular season title. Pearl did that last year, plus the SECT title and the Final Four this year

Cliff got us to the NCAAT three times and had three 20 win seasons. Bruce likely matches that this upcoming season, and judging by how recruiting is going he'll be much more consistent than Cliff was

Crazy to think that Gus was 13 seconds away from giving us two National Championships in 4 years after not getting one for 50
