Well I definitely want NCAA tourney runs. NIT sucks I'm sorry.

Lulz. This team needs to become an NIT team before it even thinks about competing in the NCAAs.

You're not going to get that big of a jump any time soon, if ever.

Yea I understand that. I'm just saying. Making the NIT consistently will just have me disappointed. That's just me tho I know some of you would be content with NIT appearances considering we barely make those now.

We made the NCAA I would say consistently in 80s and late 90s to early 2000s. Who knows when the next time we will have a team that will make it. Maybe they need a couple of players to turn it around I don't know. Just frustrating and difficult to explain. I know our program has no tradition but there have been several coaches that built/resurrect programs to become contenders.

We went over 10 years before we went back to the NCAA Tourney in 1999. Our best basketball was played in the 80s, when we went every year from 1984(our first tour way experience too) to 1988. Cliff Ellis came to Auburn in 1994, and it took him 5 years to get to the NCAA tourney, with 1 NIT appearance before then.

I understand fan frustration. But NCAA tournaments have never been the norm for Auburn Basketball. It would take a strong focus on Basketball from the Athletic Department for that to change IMO, but as long as Football keeps bringing in tons of money, that won't happen most likely.

I think the internet age just makes fans impatient, you just see so many comments about Ellis was way better, with the posters ignoring the fact Ellis took a very long time to be successful as well. I think one thing that helped Ellis was his offense was more exciting.

Barbee has the guys playing hard and playing solid defense, but I'm not sure about his offense. On the flip side he hasn't had a true point guard to run his offense since he's been here (at least a healthy one that could actually play), so I guess we'll see if the incoming freshman next year can fit the bill.

Either way, Barbee deserves at least 4-5 years to try and turn things around. Outside of the times we've had pro level talent like Barkley, the two Persons, Morris, Porter, and Daniels we've never had any success in basketball. We are the version of Vandy/Kentucky football in SEC basketball, nobody is going to turn us around in 2-3 seasons.

Barbee Offense is best when you have a true PG and your team can play fast, a la Memphis in 08 with Rose. He picked it up from Cal, and we haven't had that since he's been here. If we had a reliable hand at the PG, one who could create plays not only with his shooting, but with quickness and sure passing, his offense would be a lot of fun to watch.

This is what I'm hoping. And it doesn't help that our starting PG is Wallace, who can't shoot anything. Pretty much cripples the offensive style Barbee wants to use.

Its Barbee's job to get a PG then. Instead he plays that midget Wallace who is so bad he had to walk on at Auburn.

I liove how ppl say that Barbee is this great recruiter, yet he plays all the Lebo players when the trend in CBB is to play young guys.

B. Green Jr. needs to be starting over Wallace. We're going to turn the ball over a shite ton no matter who'se running point. Green Jr. is more of a scoring threat than Wallace. We need that to take some pressure off Sullivan

Some may view this as extreme, but I think Barbee's future here rides on Tahj Shamsid-Deen. This kid is probably the best PG we're gonna have since Doc Robinson, and Barbee won't have the Josh Wallace excuse anymore. TSD is, by all accounts, a true facilitator that can also score. If the kid was 6 feet tall, he'd be a top 100 recruit.

But Barbee will either sink or swim with a true PG. There won't be anymore excuses starting next year.

I would say them building an expensive $100 million dollar new arena is an investment into the bball program to become a contender in our league IMO. I also understand the arguement that its important to have updated facilitles in colleges in order to attract students and recruits.

I understand some of the gripes with Barbee this year, but you guys are seriously bickering about him after this game? Seriously?

Our free-throw shooting was phenomenal (for our standards), and we outrebounded one of the best frontlines in the country. We simply didn't make enough shots.

We were 6-24 from 3-point range. We're a far better shooting team than that. We had wide-open looks a lot of times and missed them. Barbee can't go out there and take the shots. Yes, it sucks that this came at home against a ranked team, but it was just one of those nights.

We hit one more 3, and we win. Other than a dumb foul by Shaq, I can't complain about how we played on Saturday.

Why would anyone complain about barbee, when he got there the program was in a terrible place and the team has shown steady improvement since he has been there and he is recruiting really well, not to mention the students are supporting it more than they have in a couple of years

Because he sucks.

How have they improved? It sure has not be in wins.

and he is recruiting really well

If he recruits so well then why is he starting Lebo's players. Remeber the program was terrible, so why play the terrible player when Barbee's recruiting is so wonderful.

Good thing this team gives them nothing to cheer about.

I think next year will be all that I am willing to give for a marked improvement. We all know what happens when I give a deadline. Ask Chizik....

And lost 16 games. 4 whole wins more, only one of which wa in conference play.

Good to know that an overall winning percentage of .420 and .29 in conference play is ok with you. But Barbee is a great recruiter huh.

I'm sure it's been discussed about would we be able to get anyone worth a damn to replace him. I think that may be a different discussion than just sayign the guy isn't very good and it's pretty obvious he hasnt' done anything of note since his much lauded arrival in auburn.
