that fact that we know who the big time coach is, probably isn't a good sign... probably just fishing for a raise.

That could be a smokescreen. I found this tweet from the guy who runs perfectgame.com interesting.

Witicha State fired their coach. We NEED to go after him. He is a proven winner. We can make big hire. We just need the WANT to. Oregon went from no team, gave the Cal St. Fullerton a pay raise, and was in the NCAA tournament the VERY next year.

Auburn is going to begin interviews this week (PMarshall)
Names that will be asked to interview (doesn't mean they will accept the offer to interview)
Liberty head coach Jim Toman
North Carolina pitching coach Scott Forbes
North Carolina State head coach Elliott Avent (Been to 17 regionals and 4 supers. CWS this year)
Oklahoma head coach Sunny Galloway
Samford head coach Casey Dunn
Mississippi State pitching coach Butch Thompson Arkansas assistant coach Todd Butler
other possible candidates
South Alabama head coach Mark Calvi
Troy head coach Bobby Pierce
eta: some of these names are coaching in post season still so something may not happen till they become available.

I think they have been waiting for some to fall out of playoffs. Sounds like he wants to go get this Avent guy. 17 Regionals in 17 years...yes thank you. This will be his first CWS this year though.

He's a little older than I want, but I would be very happy with Avent being hired. Solid track record at a relevant program.

I'll be shocked if Casey Dunn isn't hired. I have no faith left in Jay Jacobs to make competent hires.

Pretty sad. I really dont want a mid major coach to prove himself. If they are going to shell out cash like they say, they need to hire someone who has proven they can lead a team to multiple regionals, supers, and CWS.
