I dont know if he is misreading it or if the mesh point is just not there right now. It hasn't looked great but you really cant tell how good that would be by the way he, as well as Gatewood, is being used

We should have been rotating QB's more in the first half with the starters and at speed. Not what they got yesterday. It is impossible to get any rhythm going the way they were used

No its not just you. And it was not the first time Gus openly showed frustration directed at Willis from the sidelines. Rod and Stan commented on it as well. When you have a 300 DE crashing down on the inside, and you have 4.5 speed, ya keep it every time and twice on Sunday til he stays at home.

Watched the replay, some overthrown passes, and some underthrown big gains that would have, at best been defended if not intercepted by SEC teams. He was slinging it though and had some really nice throws.

Seth Williams continues to impress as does Schwartz. What the hell Schwartz was doing running the ball when we are up by 50 points is beyond me.

Short yardage we kept running over the right side which was interesting. Pass blocking was great, and they did punch some holes on some running plays.

Defense typical Steele. Listening on the radio, seemed like every single play we had a different player coming on a blitz, obviously confused the snot out of them, and I dont think they were prepared for the speed at all (note that Darious Slayton pitch and catch where he outran their entire defensive backfield that had angles on him.

And I will stay on the Joey Gatewood bandwagon, he REALLY could have used some meaningful snaps, I wonder if the kid will even get a chance in the spring? That one run, he showed he has some jets, and that is one big ole boy.

I look forward to next season, but realistically, a QB, whoever it is, with little experience is gonna be a tough road til midseason, particularly with OL questions.

I've noticed this. Someone said it in another thread but if he trots out as the starter for 2019 it will be a long year.

It's not you. I actually think it's a much higher percentage. Hopefully he will improve.

Looked as if Chip Lindsey single handily ruined Stidham this year. Stidham sat in the pocket more than he has all year. He also took hits stepping into throws. My guess, the offensive staff, in particular, o-line coach, thought little of Lindsey. Look forward to another Gus led offense next year. The Oline will be better than you think. Just need Gatewood to be able to throw the deep ball effectively.

I don’t know if it was a Chip or what, but it was both refreshing and saddening to see Stidham finally stepping up into the pocket and keeping his eyes downfield.

We did get a few breaks but he looked like the QB we all hoped he would be. If only he played like that entire year. I hope he does well in the NFL

We saw a lot off whirly bird yesterday. First time in a while. That 4th down in the 1st half was classic Gus whirlybird pass.

He misreads it 80% of the time. He needs to be moved to WR or CB in the spring. He does not need to take up valuable reps in fall practice.

My only takeaway was that this is what it looks like when you put a bunch of guys who run 4.5’s against a bunch of fuys who run 4.7’s.

Can't rely on pure speed against quality defenses, as they typically have the speed to counter it otherwise we would of just had Schwartz run deep all year.

I think they tried this but two things happened, 1. the offensive line couldn't block and 2. they tried it with Slayton instead of Schwartz. 81 was constantly over or under thrown all year.

I realize the success was against Purdue but there were points in every one of our games that were very close. Was the difference really the opponent (Purdue) or a good focused, positive week of practice and Gus returning to form?
