The offense looked spectacular in the bowl game. Living in Indiana, I got alot of mileage from that with my Purdue friends. My question is this....was that a true measure of what to expect this year against better competition? ( focus, intensity, execution ect) Obviously we wont put those numbers up against Bama or Georgia, but in terms of competence. Thoughts?

You should probably throw out everything you saw in that bowl game and just enjoy that it happened. It has no bearing on this year

Offense could be good and could be very bad. Just depends. No way to tell at this point. In my opinion, here is what we have

Offensive line - I think this unit is going to be very good and better than most think baring any major injuries. Guys have played together for a while and should mesh

Wide outs - Should be a very good group. Tons of talent and some experience. Nothing missing here.

Running backs - Mediocre - If DJ Williams is as good as some think, it could be better. But I am not looking for much from Cam Martin, Boobie should be solid but beyond that, no quality depth. What we are missing is a STUD. A very good, every down back.

Quarterback - Who the hell knows. I assume it will be Gatewood but it could be Nix. Either way, I think this position will go as its ability to move around and gain yards with their feet. Watching Gatewood run the few times he did in the bowl game was hard to get a gauge on him. None of the 2nd half QB's got a fair shake at running the offense since it was a mock up offense since we were so far ahead and they were not running the real offense. Just running the clock out basically. I still worry about his position

Different QB, different OL, means entirely different offense. Purdue game not even worth thinking about

No one likes to factor in how injured our OL was early in the season.

Bowl games historically are not good indicators of the season to come

There is reason for practical optimism, but in reality we haven't seen much against any decent defense in years.

I guess I dont. Please explain why its so Important, so i dont lose my mind when he does it 12 times a game for no gain immediately after a first down.

I have the same thoughts.

If your OL is good to great, we should perform better than expected, but we need a good QB to run the show. Both of those things are question marks going into the season, and I've already prepared myself that we will not get the correct OL positioning right until mid-season.
