Last pick of first round of NFL Draft last year:
3rd pick of NBA Draft last year:
So yes, Brown did spurn at least 5 mil up front to play with his boys, but he also made more money down the road. Okoro doesn’t have to wait to secure the bigger bag.
I’m guessing Brown is drafted around 7-10 this year. NFL draft pick number 8 last year:

New England Patriots rookie wide receiver N'Keal Harry, the 32nd overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, is now under contract. The Patriots and Harry agreed to terms on a four-year contract worth $10.1 million with a $5.3 million signing bonus,
3rd pick of NBA Draft last year:

Per Sportrac, “Barrett’s two-year deal will see him earn $16,071,720 in fully guaranteed money over the next two years – that’s an annual average salary of $8,035,860. The contract includes club options in both 2021 and 2022, with total earnings over four years set at just over $35.5 million.”

Suffice to say that whatever happens, Bruce has us fishing in a different pond in terms of talent. Auburn is going after an elite-level athlete now. I hope it works out. I know it want happen, but my head spins when I think about Okoro, Cooper, Brown, and Green on the same court. That is some serious blue blood talent right there.

Totally different situation.
Was it?
There was a first round grade on Brown. And you can say he was considered a late 1st round if you want... But i saw mock drafts that had him going in the top 10. So lets say 10-20
And the last NFL draft wasnt a weak class. So we have someone who could be top 5 in a weak NBA draft and someone who could have been top10 in a pretty deep draft.
Sure there are some different variables. But entirely different? Sure doesnt seem so to me...
So i ask again... Would that really make someone just stop trusting Derrick Browns judgement because he wanted to return to play with his boys (and brother) after having a 1st round grade(top10 on some boards?)
I think not.

That's a complete contradiction? Someone in a deep class probably should come back because they have a good chance to go higher in a normal class. Someone top 5 in a weak class should go because coming back likely does nothing to help them and will likely cost them money
So yes, the situations are very different.
And Its not as deep as not trusting someone, I just personally would find it absolutely insane to pass on being a potential top 3 pick to come back, especially when he literally JUST had a very scary looking injury.

Okoro probably needs to come back, but because of this years class and his projected pick slot he almost has to leave. Very different than Brown last year.
Coming back would make him a more complete player and would likely better prepare him for the riggers of the NBA...but it also creates an injury risk and a stock falling risk.
Going assures him of a high pick and guaranteed money...with his attitude and effort I can't imagine he won't do the same work in the NBA to become a complete player that he would have the opportunity to do in college. The unknown is the influence of money and the response of reaching a goal, IMO it's why can't miss players bust.

Some of these top 5 projections are making me nervous I will say, frankly I don't see it yet. Needs to develop that midrange

You can go to the NBA and develop...he's only 19, they'll give him time to get a consistent mid range. He has the uncanny strength and athleticism to be an ELITE level 3 & D guy when that consistency arrives. Plus he's great getting to the basket. Analytics darling.

quote:DB injured his knee late in the 2018 season & it wasn't going to be healed before the NFL combine. If he went pro after that season his stock was going to drop leading up to the draft & he knew it. That's why he returned. He may have still been a late 1st round pick in the last draft but it is not a guarantee.
Did you stop trusting Derrick Browns judgement when he turned down 1st round money and came back for his SR season?

Derrick Brown was being considered a late first rounder.

We picked up another CB for Green. We now lead his CB's with 40%.

Any clarity on how seriously he is considering pro ball? I know they will sometimes crystal ball hoops recruits to go pro so I like not seeing that on his page.
