He’s an elite recruiter, would take the job for pennies, and he knows what it takes to beat Georgia and Alabama

So you don’t think he wouldn’t be a great HC?

Hey Lardarius Webb.

You were an awesome basketball player in high school.

Auburn people have to be the least imaginative on the planet

Top choices for HC - Petrino, T-Will, Hugh Freeze, Neal Brown, Bill Clark, etc.

Why do people want mediocre hires just to get a hire?

No, he probably doesn't. He knows what it takes to win on a Saturday, but he's never seen a competent coach who built a program to always win Sunday - Friday

Former Patriots exec Mike Lombardi uses an old quote to describe why Bill Belichick (and protege Saban) are so success. "Victory lies in the organization of the non obvious"

I don't see how T-Will would know day 1 what optimal practice scheduling, scheme implementation schedules, S&C schedules, roster management, talent eval, program culture etc should be

Why not, it's working pretty well for Clemson. He would connect with the recruits and has actually played football at the highest level you can play. He knows he would need an excellent OC and he would be off and running. I am willing to take that shot.

Guy played NFL ball and is a great coach. His unit has went from the clown show to one of excellence on the team since he has taken over. I really think he can our Dabo hire and have Auburn rolling. He can walk into a kids house and tell them I know what it takes to put you in the NFL because I have done it.

I'd much rather see Auburn make a boring stability hire than a total flyer of a hire like T-Will

I'll say one thing for Gus - He's won enough big games in big enough fashion that Auburn gets the benefit of the doubt in a way we never have before. Even when Tubs was feasting on top 10 teams, we never got it.

Now we're regularly picked to be better than we actually are. I don't want to lose that, and we shouldn't, so long as the next hire doesn't crater the program.

Bill not Will. T-Will is a good LB coach, ok rapper, but not ready to take the helm at Auburn or anywhere else for that matter. His next move if any is a DC somewhere in the SEC.

He was a pretty good RB at Beauregard too

If we do fire Gus, it seems like we'd have to hire a lesser known coach that demands a much smaller salary. Clark might be the right choice.

I love TWill and would love to see him eventually be the HC. I would just prefer him have the time to learn and be groomed as opposed to throwing him to the fire.

It means finding and handling non direct/obvious elements that influence the outcome of events.

Really simple example, we want strong/more fit OL to generate more push, what is the solution (Something teams are only recently understanding)?

Obvious: More/better S&C, recruit more talented players, roids
Less Obvious: Fix the nutrition/diet plan to optimize S&C/body composition

When you read about Nick Saban's "Process," what you see is that he has systematically started to address everything his players do that influences the outcome of the game to the small, "non obvious" details

Dabo went from coaching receivers to head coach and that has worked out for Clemson. Fire Gus and let him be the interim coach and see how he does.

Dabo Swinney was on the hotseat after his first few seasons. It took him awhile to figure it out. There is a reason why people use to call teams collapsing "Clemson'ing"

Also, unlikely we will strike coordinator gold like Dabo did with Venebles + Morris then Scott/Elliot

Plus, Dabo was named interim HC was he not? I mean they at least saw what he did for part of a season as HC. It has worked for Dabo, but to use that as any type of norm or expectation is just ludicrous.
