Gus Malzahn is taking a page out of Steve Spurrier's coaching strategy plan as Auburn's head coach looks to put together a team to win the national championship.

Not a perfect comparison, but I like where his head is at.

Auburn will fundamentally have to win two major bowl games in one year to capture a national title.

What a strange use of the word fundamentally.

I like the analogy, I hope we're successfully implementing what he says we are.

Cliff notes for those of us that aren't premium members? Or is that against forum policy?

I had no problems viewing it either. I don't know why it is giving you that.

Cliffs Notes:

Comparing 2013/14 AU and 1995 Gators.

Gators tore up the world until the bowl game against Nebraska and were totally annihilated. AU wasn't undefeated but ran through everyone in 2013 until BCS championship game. AU wasn't beaten down in championship game against FSU like Florida was, though.

Both coaches realized changes needed to be made. However, Gus kept EJ and all D staff due to how close AU was and it back fired.

Spurrier hired Stoops to run D after that 95 championship game and gave him full reign over the D and also totally changed conditioning program.

After the disappointment that was 2014 for AU, Gus has done what Spurrier did, bring in a great D coordinator and give him free reign to do what he wants with the D and changed the culture of the program conditioning and accountability wise.

I got the same premium content message trying to open the link in Google Chrome. I opened it in a different browser (Safari) and it open the article with no problem. I suggest using another browser.

I did find it interesting that Stat wrote such a subjective and unscientific article

Ahhh thanks, swapping browsers did the trick. I wonder why it does that with Chrome and not other browsers.
