Yeah.... I didn't really buy the "massive improvement" line.

It seemed like everyone thought he might get the nod due to being consistent. If consistency is the one thing going for you, then you better be consistent. Shanking his first punt was essentially all they needed to see.

I know college football is a grind, even for a punter, but hard to believe he would quit after winning the starting job just a week ago. Despite the results on the field, dude put in a lot of effort and work in offseason and fall camp, and just hangs it up two games into the season. Just dont get it. I'd have killed to just be on the sidelines in uniform.

He was a walkon, so it was easier for him to quit. He can transfer and play immediately next year.

Wasn't he the diehard Auburn fan that rejected everyone's advice to take a few visits, see what schools might offer him a scholly? Said no thanks, I want to play for Auburn, even if it is as a walk-on?

If Auburn is your dream team, I would think you'd try to stick it out a little longer.

He lettered at auburn... now he wants to go play somewhere... I can’t fault him for that.

He is doing all while having to pay for his education. Meanwhile he could transfer to division 2 and do that while in scholarship.

Not a lot of D-II schools drop full scholarships on kickers. Plus thinking long term, a degree from Auburn is going to open a few more doors than a University of West Alabama degree

Jokes aside, I don’t blame Marshall.

He’s a walk-on, no scholly. Auburn gives a former professional rugby player a scholarship over the off season. You can’t even get in the game for Alabama State

I was confused because I thought you meant the aussie punter quit.

Good luck to him.

That punt to stick Bama at their own two on the penultimate drive of the 1st half in the Iron Bowl last year was a thing of beauty. We'll always have that.

He has punted for Auburn already now

If he has the opportunity to get a scholarship check from somewhere, he should take it.

My brother was a walk-on special teams guy for Auburn with no scholarship. He loved being on the team and still has lifelong friends along with an SEC championship ring and some great stories about D Craig and Takeo Spikes.

He probably quit after our entire punting unit was demoralized by Alabama State’s Pinter. That dude dropped bombs.

He's already received multiple D-1 scholarship offers, including SEC.
