For all the hype this guy got in the preseason, he's barely a mention in the stats or gameplan. 3 catches for 31 yds. Do we not have any intermediate and short routes for a guy like this? I thought he was part of Gus' short yardage and red zone plan for 2017?

He is more liable to drop it as catch it. That's his biggest problem.

Then explain why they keep throwing to Slayton

Pretty much the same story. Slayton does have some speed though. If he catches it, something good may happen.

I dont think Canella can get open. Defenders are always right on top of him

Bc Slayton alternates between drops and ridiculous one hand/leaping grabs. The risk is worth the reward with him.

To be honest...if your #1 job is A and you don't do A very well why would you play or be "visible".

That's what happens when you let 170lb CBs jam you at the LOS

I'd throw it to him too.

Ive seen enough to disagree. I think it's past time to give somebody else a shot. We can't afford any drops against what is ahead. I'm not at practice so maybe we have no one else, but how can it be much worse? Move Slayton to CB now instead of doing it his senior year like we seem to do. He doesn't like it tough, welcome to the bench. I think we moved the wrong player to the secondary anyway. I would rather give Jason Smith a shot at WR than what I've seen from Slayton..

We do realize the reason Slayton gets the ball thrown his way is because he is open??? You have to get open before you'll get an opportunity to catch it most of the time.

Cannella has been a huge disappointment. I really thought he would be a weapon for us.

I am pretty sure the FBI uses our TE scholarships to put people in the witness protection program. Last TD by a TE I can remember was Harris last year vs Ole Miss

Why is it dumb? Have our offensive coaches earned the benefit of the doubt? The only thing I trust with the coaches is if Gus has a true dual threat qb, other than that they seem clueless. What from the first 3 games of any season has you convinced Gus plays the right players from evaluating in practice? We have set the bar at he gets open? Are we that bad at evaluating, recruiting, and developing talent that we Discount catching for a wr? Our own coach bragged about pulling in the best wr group in the nation 2 years ago. Yes Davis got shown the door, but what about NCM, McLain, Stove, Noah (spell last name). Last I checked we kind of suck throwing the ball against good defenses, so a couple of drops a game does matter. Maybe Slayton is the best we got, I'm not at practice, and we sure don't throw to many others in a game, but until earned I have my doubts.

Gus is playing the long con. He has been sandbagging Sal and will unleash him vs. La. Monroe.
