The man is notorious for never respecting the other team in his comments, but he did tonight. He said Stidham is the best QB bama has faced this year. He also said that on that botched snap play that the refs should have called the penalty on THEM and not AU.

Now if only he would retire...

These people calling for his head are fricking fools. He's still the best coach of our generation and I wish the old frick would go retire

The 12 men on the field call was the correct call but yes they certainly missed Alabama not being set. Unfortunately, it came down to our penalty being reviewable.

Not like it mattered in the end though. We got 'em

I have always respected Saban, and wish him no ill will.

Tonight he looked tired.

Was just thinking - remember him on the sidelines in the 2008 IB? Where he had McElroy throwing deep for the final TD when the game was long over? And the sideline mic caught him saying "I hate these bastards"?

I think all the success of the past several years has mellowed him. He doesn't hate us anymore.

I can start to see his fire dying just a little. He's 66, he's richer than Croesus, and he's established himself as one of the sport's icons. Maybe he will hang it up soon.

But why else is that MFer gonna do?... saban is the kinda guy who will work till he’s dead. It’s the way he’s wired... going back to his small town WV mindset.

How was it reviewable if there was no flag though? I thought a field ref had to toss a flag first. Did I miss the flag?

No, targeting is the same way. The replay booth can just call down and review it, even if a flag isn’t thrown.

Targeting, substitution infractions and clock issues are "booth" reviewable.

Maybe he gets tired of the gumps and goes to take on another project.

I know y’all will hate me posting on here but I figure you’re still in a good enough mood that it will slide.

Hell of a game. Hell of a team. This one stings and will for some time. I think your team has a good shot to win it all.

They could have called illegal formation or illegal motion as well.

Saban is 9-7 against Auburn. No one else is close. (2-3 at LSU) and (7-4 at Bama)

... what's he going to say, "we got beat by a bad team"?

If they had more wins than losses you'd hear some Florida State hype as well.

I think you're right. I have done work for them, and while I haven't heard it from Nick himself, other members of his immediate family have agreed with me that it is in the best interest for the state and the rivalry when both teams do well. I don't doubt that Saban hates Auburn on this particular weekend in November, but despite what many rabid fans think, for coaches, it's a business more than anything else.
