re: Rumored/Hired Assistant Coaches (On-field staff done)
My favorite Recruiting story is an old one.

Coach was recruiting a kid who was highly sought after. Night before signing day, he goes to the kid's hometown, gets a hotel room, buys a case a beer, and picks up the kid and takes him to the hotel so no other coaches can find him.

While they're sitting in the hotel room drinking beer, they're watching the local news and a report comes out that the kid is signing with the rival school of the coach. Coach turns to the kid, who just smiles and finishes his beer before leaving.

Summary of course, but old recruiting was literally the wild wild west.

Rocker hasn't been hired by some of the top defensive head coaches and defensive coordinators in the SEC because he's average. He's a good coach. Just isn't the recruiter Garner was. He will do fine. Rocker isn't getting the job because of being a former player or from backdoor boosters.

If we are telling recruiting stories.

Mine... a Judge... Like a for real Judge offered partial baseball scholly plus Home-economic academic scholly, guest house very small, 1 bath, Open kitchen bedroom den area. $50 a week to wash his car. And had a plate of food on the wooden wicker chair every evening. The home-ec school was named after the Judge's wife. She taught there for years.

Sorry fellas I didn't plow the judges wife.

I know you didn't ask me, but I did from '88-'90. Great to get on the schedule on Wednesday nights for victory meal, gulf shrimp, filet mignon, and lobster.

I'd go so far as to say he's a great coach but hates to recruit. There is no doubt that Harsin and his staff know that, and have hired him. Good stuff.

Still think overall WR is the second most important position coach needed behind OL for this initial staff. I'm very pleased the coaches brought in so far. I think Coach Harsin realizes how import development and recruiting at WR is so important for this team and why it's taking to long to fill.

I worked at Sewell in mid 2000s. Loved the meals. Hell of a time there. No cuckold stories though.

Agree generally. I think you're correct we need to have 1-2 elite guys that are game changers. That usually shows up in recruiting rankings but I like who we have coming back. 70% of a recievers job is going to be blocking and generally "giving a shit" when the ball is not coming your way. I'm not dissapointed that Williams is moving on. His energy and attitude I didn't appreciate.

Well if you don't know Lanier and I know you own a private business if you didn't I'd say go to your boss and ask him if he is one. Since you work for yourself log into your wife's laptop or iPad and do a search. Her excitement will be glorious. Trust me.

I'm sure we know each other then. There weren't that many of us.

Narrowing it a bit

- Was he really into beach volleyball
- Did he have a brother who was a good DJ (and co-WEGL guy)
- Did he work with a frat brother (if so, he was the one that got me my job)

Wat?

Guilty I guess. I own my own tech company. Looking for full stack talent, btw.

He was a little bit eccentric. Sadly he took his own life in 1991 right after my freshman year. That could narrow it down.
