Getting back to Pegues —

Pegues was recruited to play TE for some of the best programs in the country that actually use a TE The reason Pegues like Auburn was the flexible HB/TE role that Gus historically used. Pegues played about every offensive position in high school. His dad played TE in college. He didn’t like DL and rarely played it.

I’m just pointing out that seemingly everything trends away from this guy 1) playing DL at Auburn and 2) being interested in it enough to not only change positions but be good enough to have an impact there.

Also, Garner is pretty specific about what he wants on the DL. I can’t recall someone starting at another position and ending up there under Garner. It seems like it has been the opposite. Garner tends to send the scraps to the OL.

Just seems unlikely. That’s my non-insider input on the matter

Last thought for now on the ‘21 QBs

When McLaughlin comes in, he’ll be on the roster with Bo and Garnett. I think we take 2 this cycle because that’s a little thin.

Cord has a lot of eligibility left but I think he can probably graduate next year. In 2021 he’ll be about 10 years out of high school and I’m just not convinced that he’s going to keep suiting up. I’m guessing he’ll find a GA role at Auburn or somewhere else since he’s interested in coaching.

Also, 2022 QB class has Tanner Bailey. He’s the son of Lance Bailey, a former backup QB at Auburn under Pat Dye

A 6 ft 179 drop back QB is going to be a projected 4* or 5* rated guy we will want in 2022?

Unclear what your question is here but those measurements are from when he was 14 at The Opening regional.

Anyway, yeah he’ll probably be a mid-high 4* guy. We’ve talked through the Pro/Dual stuff enough. Not sure what more to say about it honestly.

Use in our offensive scheme aside, I'm going to bet the kid will probably be growing some between now and 2022. Just a guess.

NCAA estimates north of 1 million kids play high school football.

247 sports listed 369 seniors as 4*+

There are a handful or two of high school kids each class that just appear on another level than everyone else. The other 350 aren’t that far apart. It’s good to keep that in mind when sites arbitrarily move guys around in the rankings. Especially late in the process

Completely agree. You can win a championship with a roster of solid top 300 talent - especially as those guys become seasoned vets. There's just not that big of a gap like the recruiting sites would make you believe.

Oh I know. He's every bit of the beast that he has been all year long. Just hate it for him. He worked hard to get that 5* recognition, and the optics of having a 5* RB helps in recruiting.

Very good point. I watch a lot of high level HS football. The only real 5* I have seen the past 5 years is Trey Sanders. Guy was on another level. Noah Cain looked like a low 3* compared to him. Most 4/5* graded guys are highly dependent on the system they play in. Very few are as dynamic as Trey. Preforming in a camp or 7v7 does not always transition to the field.

Surprising too. I understand these ratings fluctuate, but to drop 25 seems hard. What could he have done in his last showing to get such a bump down?

Rivals didn’t like his performance at the All American weekend/game. I didn’t see it, but I read he barely got any touches

Rumors on 247 and twitter that Marcus Woodson will join his old boss, Norvell, at FSU. He’s a confirmed candidate for sure.

AU connecteds on the Bunker are saying they don't expect Norvell to get enough money from the FSU bras to get Woodson to take the job. Said money was the reason Woodson didn't take the job when they went after him a week or so ago & money was the reason they couldn't keep their new DB coach from taking the Texas A&M job. Also some chatter on FSU boards they are going after a NFL guy for the vacancy. Per FSU 247 reporter Josh Newberg
quote:

Woodson and T-Buck are possible, but we're being told a hire likely coming from the NFL, or outside of Norvell's circle.
