Tim Keenan. Per Keith he’s a true nose guard, zero technique, which is something auburn doesn’t use in our system.

There isn't much difference in the 0 technique and 1 tech. You're either straight up over the center or shaded to one shoulder or the other. But like I previous said I think he isn't high at all on our board. I want the best for Tim he is a great kid and great family and definitely puts in the work but think it would be best for him somewhere else. I'm not sure his personality and Coach G's personality would jive very well either. Coach G will ride that arse if he thinks he can get more out of you.

I also checked the roster I could find and Ja'Varrius is listed at 5"9" 160. Was hoping he was at least up over 170ish after a year in the weight room. Dude is flat out a play maker. He may be one of those position type players that get eliminated with going with so many flex-TE's. Not saying he won't play but might be his rJr year before he gets much playing time.

5'9" 160# is not a D1 player

I feel like Waddle wasn’t much bigger than that out of high school and he torched our arse. Just put him in the slot and give him the ball in space.

I'll let Tyreek Hill know you think so. I guess not beating the crap out of his girlfriend really got him kicked off the team but that he was 5'8" about 160. I'm sure Livingston appreciated Okie State letting him go for not being D1 size.
I do get your point Var needs to put on about 8-10 lbs per year and sadly I don't see that after his redshirt freshman year.

I am not saying someone that size couldn't make plays in certain situations. Just could never be an every down type player.

Tim Keenan

That's my concern that he gets buried as a specialist and predictable. I think the Flex-TE's are actually the way to go to develop our intermediate passing scheme. Those little guys just can't take the pounding and the ability to block. Gonna start another thread for these discussion named Roster.

quote:The difference is Keenan is best suited for a 3 Man Front with only one DT whereas we use a four-man front with two DTs. We’ve almost always passed on guys like him for this very reason.

I'm not saying we should be recruiting Keenan. Just mentioned him because he's one of the higher rated players in the metro area that I'm familiar with. In fact if I were coach G I wouldn't recruit him but I hope some big school gives him a chance because he's truly an awesome kid. When you get out toward Hueytown and those areas I don't have a lot of contacts. North, East, and South of B'ham I have many contacts.

I wish we'd stop recruiting these RUDY-type shrimps. The hit rate is embarassing.

quote:I'm biased because Tubs and Dye would never recruit fatbodies and slim them down. Garner actually wants his lineman a little heavy going into a season, which I've never agreed with given the access to food the players have... I think that is a relic idea.

Yes Walter Tate among others are exceptions...

I’m of the opinion that RG needs to keep doing whatever the crap he’s doing because that’s been by far our best position group.

I can name 10-20 “SEC sized“ receivers at Auburn that didn’t contribute shite the last 10 years.
Ryan Davis was listed 5’9 and 165 at Auburn. Jaylen Waddle is 5’9, 175 dripping wet and he’s a high 1st rounder. He’s the reason why we probably lost Leary.
True, all of your receivers can be that small. However, you take those guys for slot when you get the chance.
Johnson was 50 yards shy of breaking the alabama high school single-season record for receiving yards (and he did it in the top region in the state, correct?). Put some respect on his name the next time you come with this weak shite

You realize that is the weight he was coming to Auburn, right? We didn’t have spring ball and officials measurements aren’t done until fall camp.
