Seem pretty unlikely given that Saban is kinda good at evaluating and developing these 5-star corners. You realize that you're more or less implying that they're making a mistake by taking him, right?

Agree.

And wouldn't you rather get that 5* and take a chance on him? A lot of this talk we hear on kids can be for a number of reasons, including immaturity, or someone who simply doesn't like his attitude you are listening to about him.

To me lt's a whole lot better than simply not getting that chance.

My evaluation is self evaluation. I've seen him play in person multiple times. Yes he is a good player at the high school level. He isn't very physical for his size. He doesn't have high end speed. He has good instincts but isn't anywhere near the number 1 corner in the country. Maybe if his body matures and he embraces tackling he can play safety but not at corner due to lack of straight line speed.

Much better WR in my opinion and yes if he was going to commit to AU you take him. He's not horrible or anything it's just he isn't a top player. Like someone to panic about "losing".

Williams is a huge loss because we have no pass rush. Which I think is on coaching we have the right body and physical tools needed to have good edge rushers. I would much rather change our approach to the Buck and just make that player another DE. Get a guy thats 6'3" - 6'5" around 260ish and stick him out there and say defend the edge. Use other ways to create a pass rush and be able to hold the edge on run downs.

Looking at our class and remaining targets “losing” him definitely hurt and adds to reasons to panic about recruiting. I’m not sure how fast he is but he’s taken plenty of returns to the house so it must be good enough. I’ve seen him play lots of times too including the game Roc Taylor got the best of him. He’s a finesse type player for sure, an athlete and does everything with little to no effort. Of course that’s not your ideal type CB1 but the amount of plays and turnovers he creates can’t be overlooked. Another reason the kept him #1 is because of how he plays, he talks and tries to get in your head, but backs it up 9/10. He’s a less physical more athletic Jalen Ramsey.

Y’all constantly bitch about not bringing something over from another board but when I defend my character to someone straight up lying about me I’m the bad guy. And here you are bringing shite up again. No threat intended but anyone that wants to roll I’m good to go anytime. It’s good to have live practice so someone doesn’t kill me if I’m not sharp.

Man STFU!!

Kool Aid is a 5 Star Talent. I've known and watch this kid since he was 6 years old.Your dislike for a child doesn't mean shite to anyone but you.

Nick Saban likes him...likes him so much, he slid in his basketball game against Bessemer City earlier this season. Since Bama has put 10,000 players in the NFL since 2008, I'll take his co-sign over yours...CORCH.

Like I said we will see who's right. I haven't pooh pooh on him just have gave my honest opinion for a few years now and that was when he was thought to be lock for AU. My opinion hasn't changed.

The recruiting analyst at 247 normally get it right but they miss on some. This is a miss on their end in my opinion. You don't like my opinion then don't read it.

And to be fair with the recruiting success Saban has had at corner back you would think he would have more corner backs on NFL rosters.

Current Active Corners in the NFL 2020
Bama - 5
Auburn - 6

IMO, the point is to stock up on the higher ranked guys that fit your requirements/needs. Not all will pan out, but 60% will. Those 60% will be better than our lower ranked guys

And even if they don’t pan out having super athletes in the program competing against others only improves everyone.

Well i mean regardless it sucks to lose someone that many are high on. Even if he is overrated and he's the 10th best corner instead of the best, it would still be a valuable player to have

Edit: Also can you link me the source on the Bama vs Auburn cornerbacks? That doesn't seem acurate and based on what I found it seemed like it was 13-6 in favor of Bama based on this and this this

Auburn:
Davis, Javaris
Igbinoghene, Noah
Jones, Jonathan
Thorpe, Neiko
Davis, Carlton
Dean, Jamel

Alabama:
Kirkpatrick, Dre
Carter, Shyheim
Averett, Anthony
Humphrey, Marlon
Wallace, Levi
Brown, Tony
Diggs, Trevon
Smith, Saivion
Jackson, Kareem (Though i think he's actually a safety so you can subtract him if you want)

I was specifically speaking of active roster players not practice squad and reserves.

Yall are missing the point of my opinion. I haven't been high on Koolaid for 2 years. Spoken about many times in this thread. I don't consider him a cornerback. I consider him a slot WR for reasons I specified before.

I have no problems with the kid personally as was implied by one poster of picking on a child... lol. But I don't like his skill at cornerback. It's my opinion that's it. Anyone is free to have their own. Personally if the choice was Koolaid or Green I would have taken Green 10 out of 10 times. No question. Who knows the kid may prove me completely wrong and if so good for him it won't be the first time I've been wrong and won't be the last.

Sucks to lose any recruiting battle. I will admit that.

I think most peoples issue is that you said:

quote:

In 2 years yall will be thankful we missed on kool aid. Not that he’s trouble or anything but extremely overrated. Doubt he plays defense for Bama.

It is kinda crazy to say that we should be happy we missed a 5 star. I understand your point but you just worded in a kinda exaggerated way which i believe is why you got such a response

Auburn offered JUCO Buck Byron Young. Unrated, Tennessee offered this week as well. Same JUCO that we got Lambert and Lawrence from.

Somewhat entertaining watching Gus crumble

Is this crumbling? This is par for the course with Gus. We do not recruit DEs that can produce on the feild. We have failed to field a passrush in 5 of 8 Gus Malzahn seasons, really its 5 of 7 season because he was gifted Dee Ford in 2013.
