The frustrating part of this season and recruiting class is that it was primed for Auburn. Brooks, McKinstry, and Williams. Roanoke, Pinson Valley, and Ramsey.
Those are not Hoover, Homewood, Oxford, St Paul’s, or any other powerhouse in-state programs that send kids to rival schools every year. These were kids with Auburn connections. Real relationships that set Auburn up with an inside track. All it needed to show was direction.
Anyway, I don’t know what’s ahead for this class. It doesn’t look good, though
I understand your point totally. And those of us old enough to follow Auburn over many many years have been down this road before.
But don't these kids( the ones that seemed to have Auburn history or ties), also want to make the team they like better? A lot of these guys are on D, and we have had over the last 4-5 years a pretty strong D, recruited players and developed players who have gone on to the NFL. Steele is well known for his defenses.
So I can only guess it is more of the worry that the coaches that are recruiting them may not be there during their 4 years, bc the HC is under fire now.
I can't think of any other reason(ofc winning, playing for championships too), that are causing so many of these guys to now think elsewhere.

Maybe they are worried the coaches that are recruiting them WILL be there during their 4 years

If we lose McKinstry and Williams this may end up being Malzahns worst class

... and then you have Gus, Oeaux, Pruitt, Stoops, and Leach knocking on your door.

You may be fundamental misunderstanding of what this generation truly values. They also want to be a part of something special and relevant. Auburn hasn't proven that on the field or off quite frankly when it comes to campus culture.

Jeremiah Williams
Jboy was first to call this. One of his show callers is somehow related/close to said recruit. Said he would put Auburn 3rd behind Florida and Georgia currently.

To be fair, Williams to UF has been a thing for months now. He nearly committed to UF in August. He really wants to go there.
Auburn was favored because of Malzahn and Mom. Gus, obviously, isn’t a huge selling point with his hot seat turned up all the way

Remember when we were getting Brooks, Mondon, Williams, McKinstry, and Lassiter?

Before the season, maybe with the exception of Williams, we were in the diver’s seat for all of them

They’re lame ducks. No program direction and low likelihood they’ll make it through 2024
They just needed to win to land these guys

Sucks to miss out on him obviously, but we have 2 freshman CBs playing this year that look good and Domio is supposed to be just as good.. With the extra year of eligibility we are still in good shape there. We HAVE to keep Robinson and Hunter in this class though. If we can flip Brooks and get Williams to change his mind then we will be ok imo.

Gus fails 2 understand everything starts on the lines.... we are suffering the inevitable consequences

That talent/program gap between Auburn and the likes of
Alabama/Georgia/LSU/Florida is growing ever wider. Malzahn is driving this program to mediocrity and getting 7 million dollars/year to do it. I read somewhere that he is 29-26 in his last 55 SEC games. Is that true?

In 2 years yall will be thankful we missed on kool aid. Not that he’s trouble or anything but extremely overrated. Doubt he plays defense for Bama.

Yea because we had so many other top prospects waiting in line to take his spot
