My nephew plays at Oxford with Roc and it's hard to judge him. He's certainly "fast" enough, he just isn't anywhere nearly as "quick" as other SEC WR prospects. He takes a while to get going. Also, it's hard to judge the competition he's going against in HS, but he can flat out go get jump balls. I'm not sure why that isn't Oxford's offensive philosophy. He is a big, physical dude that just bullies DBs at the HS level.

He would have a lot of work to do to be a good WR in the SEC.

Recruiting for basically everyone has been pretty dead with so many early commitments and the prolonged dead period. That said, whiffing on 3 guys in a row that were once leaning toward Auburn has amplified the silence.

3* WR Hal Presley says a big announcement is coming tomorrow at 6:30. KN CB’d him to Auburn just a little while ago.

Assuming he’s making an announcement, it should be Auburn.

Presley is one of two 3* guys we’re pushing for that I expect to get bumped to a 4*. Has offers from Michigan, Texas, USC, Baylor, etc

Auburn is recruiting 3* S Dontae Balfour really hard. Staff has compared him to Smoke Monday. Offers from Ole Miss and South Carolina, KN says he is close to putting a CB in for him.

As a note, this isn’t a kid I expect to blow up. There’s a couple of others that will likely be 4*s (Hal Pressley, Trevin Wallace). I think this guy isn’t quite on that level but the physical tools are all there.

KN has now CB’d Balfour to AU as well

Tonight is the big night for him. He probably would’ve already been a solid 4* if he could attend summer camps.

Absolutely agree. I think the season stats and film gets him there. He looks really good

Texas WR Hal Presley commits to Auburn

quote:

“Hal Presley has been a touchdown waiting to happen as a senior, turning nearly half of his receptions into touchdowns averaging nearly 25 yards per reception," said 247Sports' Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong. "Presley can make plays in a variety of ways -- a downfield threat that can win the 1-on-1 ball, he is also elusive after the catch. Presley has improved in all facets as a senior."

In a win last week, Presley had four catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns. That gives him 19 catches for 468 yards and eight touchdowns this season through five games played. He recorded 45 receptions for 874 yards and eight touchdowns in 2019. The previous season, he hauled in 24 for 407 yards and five scores.

Also, recruiting dead period has been extended once more, through April 15 2021. We won’t have recruits on campus for a while and I see that as really bad news for Auburn. The campus really helps us.

Notre Dame (which boasts the best graded OL in the nation right now) is trying to set up a zoom meeting with Caleb Johnson. Something to track.

Yeah. He goes to a catholic high school that essentially copies the Notre Dame uniforms

I think having his best friend committed might be the thing that helps us hang on. Plus, our OL looks like it’s improving quite a bit on the field

Look at all the Caleb Johnson's....

.... they're everywhere plus we've already got one playing.

KN & 247 have identified 3*/4* DE George Wilson (USCe commit) as a flip candidate if Muschamp is canned. Staff is talking to him often. They haven’t offered yet but could if they feel like he would flip

Muschamp was canned FYI

Said Auburn and ND are recruiting him equally hard and have been since he committed and confirmed that the social media rumors about Gus’s job have made this interesting.

Really likes Bicknell and the job he’s done improving the OL. As mentioned, his best friend being committed is huge.

Ultimately this probably comes down to whether the thinks the staff gets canned or not. He really likes them. It’s going to be the tipping point for most of our recruits going forward, honestly.

Regardless of what we say, Gus isn't leaving this year.

I love these big tall guys we've brought in at WR with HP and guys like Seth, Canion, and Capers. They're all at least 6'3". Add in guys at the TE position and we have some major physical matchup problems for defenses if Gus and Chad would scheme it up.

Reminds me of that Mizzou WR group that we played in the SECCG in 2013. Not a single guy below 6’1”
