Just look at the Remember the Titans.....Ryan Gosling was getting toasted at DB and they had to replace him.

Gosling was the definition of silky smooth hips in their dancing entrance on the field though. Really surprising he didn’t work out at CB.

Small note from KN about Brooks. Now that he is officially free UCF/Gus/TWill have already been in touch with him. KN still likes Auburn, but Gus and TWill are very good recruiters.

Also related, but I saw a small update on MAR and UCF is thought to be in the running for him. Could you imagine if Gus and Co. came in and got Cody Brown, MAR, and Brooks out of no where lol..

Yeah, especially when it seemed like we were not as interested in Brooks at AU and Gus refused to play MAR. If I was MAR and I saw Gus run Worm out before me, I would avoid.

Could you imagine if they’d done their job and not been responsible for the shittiest signing class Auburn has had in a long time?

MAR loves Gus. It’s the only reason why he came here over Miami where his brother played. Wouldn’t at all shock me if he returns to his home state to keep playing for Gus.

Similarly with Brown, seems clear this coaching staff isn’t interested. Gus was very interested.

I’d be really shocked if Brooks went there now that he’s free to go to SEC schools

Yeah, who wouldn't want to go back to playing for a guy that would never let him play. Fun fun fun.

Reality is that we don’t know the reason why he didn’t play more. The “Gus refused to play him” is something that gets repeated ad nauseam on message boards. Some is probably true but we really don’t know why. And very few, if any, of these guys have done anything once they’ve left Auburn - contrary to the bold predictions made around here and elsewhere about these kids that leave.

He obviously doesn’t see it that way if he transfers there. He wasn’t incredibly effective when he played. 20 carries, 3.8 YPC.

It’s easy to fall in love with the backups when the starters aren’t playing well. The reality is that the coaches probably have the best guys out there still.

Anyway, best of luck to him. He’s a great kid

We have seen plenty of evidence from Gus that this is not true, especially from the RB position.

Tank, Shivers, Boobie, Devan Barrett, and many others would disagree. They all got their shot as freshman. Schwartz, Williams, Eli Stove etc.. The Gus plays favorites thing is a message board myth imo.

In recruiting news it looks like Auburn still feels good about Dreshaun Miller. I hope he realizes how much competition is here though lol.. He might go from starter at WV to 4th CB at Auburn.

Yeah after Gus picked favorite of Kam Martin or the Midget failed to produce on the field in the first few games. Gus never held actual competition for playing time in fall camp. He only changed when it was proven the favorite he picked failed him.

But thanks for proving my point.

Every coach does that to some extent. You can't look at the amount of true freshman that have got significant playing time and say that it was anymore of a problem for Gus than it is anyone else.

To keep this on recruiting.. Geriner looks like he's having a solid day at a camp today. I don't know much about the camp itself, but I've seen a few tweets that we're liking his play so far.

The “Gus played favorites”/“played the wrong RB” argument exists because they were all bad

When we had dominant RBs, the criticism was “ahbawgah, Gus running that poor boy in the ground!”

Shivers, Barrett, Asa, Whitlow, Miller, Martin... yikes.

The criticism should be placed on recruiting. He recruited poorly at RB for a 3 year stretch. Didn’t matter who was out there anyway with that OL — the other recruiting disaster

Don't think Shivers belongs in this group at all. He's been a very solid RB for us. Whitlow solid too, just got to full of himself. I agree about the rest though
