Is what it is, outside of RB our roster is in decent shape depth-wise so no need to stuff this class with guys. We’ll definitely need OL, DL, and secondary help too.

We’re gonna lose a considerable amount of guys on the roster before and after spring training. Just guys that sense they’re not a fit anymore. It’s a tall task to bring in transfers to make up for that attrition plus a small class but hopefully the extra season of eligibility helps h that out.

Really puts some pressure on the staff to get this 2022 class right, though. I think we’re heading toward a truer rebuild than people here realize.

I'm tired of spelling out Coach Harsin... Are we going with CBH for him?
I say we go the Drinkowitz route - he’ll be Hars when we’re happy with him and Bryan when we’re bitching about him

Is the Akron transfer supposed to be healthy for spring?

I believe he’s probably out until fall. His injury was late October and I think it was an ACL

There'll be a little more vitriol than that! When he makes a few bad decisions one big game, has a quirky practice element the beatwriters hone in on, doesnt take a L hard enough for the fanbase at a post-game presser, etc.

-Hardly Coachin Coach Harsin (HCCH) if players show bad technique/form
-Boise State Bust or Boise Boi
-Hog-tied Harsin if he goes too conservative
-Harsin the Hack
-Harcissist if he gets prolonged cockiness that turns fans off if results not enough
-Bargain Harsin if his salary is lower and we are only above average
-Harsin Sandiego if his decisionmaking disappears for stretches of games
-Grand Harsiny if his salary starts to feel excessive and unwarranted vs results

And I'm sure much more obscene and worse for issues no matter how minor we can't forsee

At the risk of being naive and pure fan...

Still hoping fresh eyes and new scheme's unlock some talent that's already here. There's always (atleast2me) seemed to be an awful lot of talent that's never materialized. However it may be the same everywhere. The proverbial square peg in a round hole, without either being bad, just parts not used to full potential. Just a new playbook might help, especially one with less what can you do for me, and more what can we make out of you.

know the ongoing OL issues. RB depth is a real concern. Otherwise the roster has enough depth for next fall.

What about passrusher?

We are stacked at 3-4 DE thanks to Garner's shite recruit, all he could get to come here was strong side DE. But we have no one to play OLB and barely anyone to play ILB. We don't really have a NT on roster.

Yes you have mentioned it but when we finish in Feb outside of the top 20 there will be gnashing of the teeth from many

I wonder how our recruiting rankings ended up in past coaching hires?

Where did we end up after Tuberville and Chizik were replaced?

I realized w/ early signing date and even throw in the pandemic, that this year is really a unique situation.

2009 Class finished 23rd in the country, 10th in the SEC

2013 Class finished 10th in the country, 6th in the SEC. That was mainly due to the new staff being able to hold onto Carl Lawson, land Montravius Adams, and would've been ranked higher if Reuben Foster wasn't a piece of shite.

For comparison, Alabama's 2007 class finished 12th in the country, 7th in the SEC. But year 2 is where they became the recruiting juggernaut they still are.

I mentioned DL in another post above that will be a likely position we patch with transfers along with RB and OL.

LB will be thin in 2021. We’re stretching two spots into 3. Buck is your new Jack, essentially. They’ll have to figure out how to cover using a sam and two inside guys but I think the roster is setup to do that. Just might be slightly thinner. Not sure much of this matters — the new motto on defense is going to be “multiple”. I’m not confident they’ll be running predominantly 3-4 next season

Times are different now, especially this year with COVID. Sen Tubs and Chiz had time to recruit before signing day, this year we didnt have a coach.

Gus also benefited from that whole recruiting class knowing who he was since he was there the previous season

It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. I think ILB we will be ok. OLB we will probably definitely have some growing pains. A couple names I think could come out would be Romello Height and Cam Riley

I also wouldn't be surprised if Pappoe moves to OLB, keeping Zakoby inside.

Sounds like things are going well for ‘21 3*/4* OT Colby Smith. He had a virtual visit that went well and pointed out Auburn was recruiting him hardest.

He may need more time to decide so he might not be a NSD announcement

Pappoe and Zakoby need to be outside. Neither can take on a lineman or TE with their size.

Moultry hopefully will be able to slide inside. He played MLB in high school. Buck was not a good fit for him. He's a see ball, get ball guy and needs to play in the middle and stop the run.

I think him and Wooten inside would be a nice combo if Moultry can do it.

Only reason I included Zakoby inside is because of the MLB having to call out adjustments and shifts on the line and basically being a QB for the front 7. Not sure if that's something you want Moultry doing after changing positions.

But who knows at this point. Maybe they'll both move outside. Maybe they'll stay inside. I don't know. I'm just guestimating.

More recruiting —

3* S Juwon Gaston looks like a 50/50 battle with USCe. He also may be getting a ratings boost

3* DB Balfour is down to Auburn, LSU, and UNC. Another close one

Auburn probably way out front for 3* RB Jarquez Hunter. Auburn seems like it will sign him. Next best offers are UVA, Iowa, and MSU
