I’m not going to make a habit of posting 2nd hand Instagram posts. Mostly because I don’t use the platform and don’t understand it. But someone on the 247 boards posted this from Brooks:

Has an offer from USC and UT. Wiltfong chimed in that he’s probably the elite P/K returner in the country

That’s basically his IG story. That AU chain can’t hurt our chances.

Looks like he linked a post of his in the story. The AU chain and “War Eagle” can’t be a bad thing

My assumption is that it’s Brooks’ account

Why is he only a 3* then?

It is, but the story has since been deleted.

Returner is less valuable in today’s game and he is certainly a less polished defensive back

Athleticism is a big bonus but otherwise it’s not a flashy take. Maybe turns out to be a McCreary/Daniel Thomas type of DB

If he looks like that irl why is he not a ten star recruit?

It's definitely time to start making some moves in recruiting. Especially in areas of dire need.

Dude had 3 PR TDs and 7 KR TDs this past season. 10 return TDs playing 6A ball in Alabama is pretty impressive. The 7 KR TDs is a state record for a single season.

Must have been playing 7 on 7.

Very impressive though...

Javier Arenas was an unknown 3-star DB from south Florida when he signed with Mike Shula at Bama, based solely on his return skills (his only other offer was from FAU). Finished his collegiate career as a consensus AA.

Might be worth risking a scholly on this dude.

Would absolutely be worth it if we can stop using our starting RB on kick returns . God I hated watching Kerryon return kicks.

FWIW, on the 2021 class —

Harsin mentioned recruiting will go on past Feb 3. This probably means we shouldn’t expect a full class in signing day. Spots will be open and available for transfers after spring ball and summer.

He said it was important to have the right guys. Continuing a message he’s spoken to since he was hired

Sounds like a nice way of saying I'm taking inventory before signing whomever will.

Also interpreting that to mean he’s not going to for foraging here The guys they’re offering and signing are ones I think he’d pursue in any circumstance. But he’s not going to dip on quality to fill out a class.

But you’re right. We’re gonna have guys leave when they figure out they’re not fits anymore. And we’ll have opportunities to fill those spots with transfers

Anyhow, KN has kept reminding the 247 board that better transfer players are usually more readily available after spring ball

Reminded of an old interview with Andy Russell of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He said Knoll took the head coaching job and held the first team meeting. He told the team...

"Ive been watching a lot of film. Its not lack of effort or knowing what you are supposed to do, many of you just arent that good and you wont make it."

Rusell said five years later we were in the superbowl....well the five of us that were left from that first meeting.

I was at Auburn during the Barfield to Dye period, we shall be fine, just hope the fans have some patience. And I think we will finish with a handful of those we have targeted, and pick up what we need later in the spring. Then give it a few years.
