It’s a very specific complaint but feels warranted

That aspect I agree with and also the fact that the DL wasn’t up to snuff this year, but I liked what I saw out of the younger guys.

The pash rush I think has more to do with not getting that quick twitch guy. Since Holland we’ve gotten guys with the size and length, they just don’t have that burst you need to put the OT at a disadvantage. Which that does fall on RG, but I don’t think that’s enough to discredit the fact that other than this year we’ve had consistently one of (if not) the best DL in the conference. Plus I just wanted to give Brannigan crap

ETA: It’s a pointless argument either way since RG is highly unlikely to return.

THAt's a good point.

OLBs like the Steelers use, or DEs like 4-3 defenses use, have a 'high twitch' guy to rush the passer. Or a an end with a high motor.

It looked like with Big Kat or TD when he first got here, and maybe you can think of others, they would fit that mold, but on the field they havent.

And their are different things that are important, such as hand strength as well as technique that allow ends to either track down the QB on an end rush or are able to bull rush inside.

Not sure Garner drills those techniques or not. He gets the athletes along the line, but recently we havent gotten that stud rusher to emerge.

Lack of development in terms of edge rushers has been a clear problem. Jeff Holland wasn't even particularly long, fast, OR explosive as he measured in at just 6'1.5 249 and ran a 4.79 forty with poor broad and vertical jump numbers.

Watching a big athlete play basketball can help see the explosiveness needed to pass rush.

Senderrick Marks, Mcglover, Marcus Gunn etc.

I reckon it's gonna be until we get DC/OC and potentially a recruiting team like we used to have.

Give Wayna Morris a second chance? Yay or nay?

He’s in the portal and we need tackles

Is it because Morris is not interested, beggars cant be choosers at this point and we are beyond begging for the offensive line.

And I like all the news from KN, but who is he talking to

2022 4* OT Dayne Shore really likes Will Friend. Shor is a long time Auburn fan. I won’t call him a lock but it would take the staff not offering him to keep him from Auburn, I think.

He also mentioned that he’s very close with ‘22 4* OT Addison Nichols. He didn’t put words in Nichols’ mouth but said they’ve talked about Friend and Auburn and those conversations have gone really well.

Both visited right before the pandemic and both plan to visit as soon as they can. Could be huge for Auburn getting off to the right path at OL

I do remember my fleeting confidence about Dylan Fairchild since we offered him close to 1st when he was unranked. Good times

It was obviously a play on words.

But yeah I had a hunch we were then the favorites.
