But he can't beat our rivals blah blah Gatewood.

His teams have faced 33 ranked opponents. He’s looked across the field and seen a top 10 team 24 times. Six times he’s seen the no. 1 team in the country on the other sideline. Eleven times he’s seen a top 3 team. In 2016, the Tigers were the only team to face the No. 1 and No. 2 teams. In 2017, Auburn matched up against three of the four college football playoff teams, a total of four times, while earning two wins. Most coaches never experience this many elite matchups during long careers in college football.
You know this is true, but seeing it in writing makes it more eye opening.

I’m very thankful for the win yesterday and agree that Gus runs a clean program with players who fight hard the entire season no matter the record.
However, Gus was hired to be an offensive guru and our offense has had horrific inconsistencies since 2014. We should be in the national championship hunt this year but poor game planning around our strengths and weaknesses on offense have led to multiple losses that easily could have been victories. The offensive ppg against ranked opponents that has steadily declined since 2013 is an ominous forecast for the future.
I will not say there’s enough to fire him especially for the high buyout. However, Auburn fans are justified in having little to no hope that we will regularly beat our rivals nor have hope that we will be contending for any championships outside of extremely surprising seasons.

Gus Malzahn is a good head coach
Gus Malzahn is a bad offensive coordinator
These can both be true.
Until Gus hands over play calling our ceiling is 10-3 but the SEC is so top heavy our floor is 8-5.

Do you believe Gus would do this and stay out of the way ala Saban or Dabo?
In my mind Gus needs to have 3 DTQB on the roster and stop calling plays from a place of fear. He also needs to find a way to hire assistants on the O side that have a variety of experiences to create a healthier staff dynamic.

Playcalling, eh. If Gus doesn’t bring in someone to update his passing scheme, we will always have our struggles against good teams unless we have a truly dynamic QB that can improvise.

A Bammer wrote it. Multiple people I know who are Bammers talk up how great Gus is all the time. But they can’t help show a little smirk when they say it.

Would the numbers change if it was from a different media outlet?

It is hard for some of you to admit we are at a disadvantage due to our schedule. Belichick would have a difficult time with it. We need to lobby for schedule balancing. I believe it is coming in the form of three permanent and 5 rotating. No divisions. Top two teams play.

No he isn’t... look at the UGA and LSU record... beating a uat second string qb isn’t a huge accomplishment

Some of you need to calm down. On both sides.

Y’all know how good it felt to win last night against Alabama?
That’s the feeling you get when you beat a rival.
Since 2015 (five seasons worth), we’ve felt that jubilation four times. Our rivals have felt that jubilation twelve times (including the Florida game) against us.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be at least 8-8? Or better?
Because we can recruit well enough to do so.

Excuses are for losers, and most of those teams have been on the rise on Gus’ watch. He has contributed to their being ranked so high by his mediocrity and lack of beating those teams on a consistent basis.
P.S.
The Gus suckers have been melting hard after last night’s win. Just enjoy it and we’ll worry about the next game later, or whether Gus gets fired next year if he goes 8-5 again.
