Three star recruit out of HS with a .8774 score from 24/7. He was listed as the #27 RB recruit. Not a terrible score, but definitely not a blue chipper either.

I can't help but wonder if his lower score has more to do with the style of offenses everyone is running. Smaller backs, more focus on passing, etc. Perhaps most teams don't want an old-fashioned pound it up the middle bruiser who doesn't run a 4.3 or 4.4.

I wonder if Miles recruited him (even though he was looking at LF7)? He would fit right in with that offense. How about Saban? Pettway is definitely an Eddie Lacey type of guy (reminds me a lot of him).

In any case, Pettway is taking us back to Dye's days and Bowden's early years with Dye's recruits (like Stephen Davis and Tony Richardson). He also has some Rudy Johnson in him.

Between Pettway's bowling-ball running style and the defense playing so well I feel like I've time traveled.

His running style reminds me of Rudi Johnson but I don't think Rudi was near his size. I honestly don't remember a feature back that was as thick as Pettway though Ben Tate was up there too.

The first long td run was pretty awesome because I thought he was down at the line and then just appeared on the other side with no one near him. He has been fun to watch and it really has helped open up the offense.

To this point he's been my favorite running back to watch in our offense in a very long time.. Probably since Kenny Irons

If Pettway keeps going strong, he will eclipse Tre mason in my eyes. The fact that Mason had 1000 yards in 2012 took him to the stars in my eyes, the dude had more heart than any back we have had in a long time.

Elitor could give some good insight as to why pettway wasn't ranked higher out of high school... he seemed to be pretty plugged in to prattville.

IIRC, KPs highlights were awesome... but for whatever reason his high school offense didn't give him that many touches. He never had gaudy stats and that affected his ranking. But when he did touch it, he looked impressive.

He had nearly 2000 yards his senior year. The last year Prattville was worth a damn.

He's got similar upright style and size of Brandon Jacobs but has better agility with those smooth jump cuts and good vision for finding holes.

Mike Alstott

He played HB at Purdue.

This run of his at Purdue looks almost identical to Pettway's first TD run last night. LINK

KP is definitely throwback. But he is bigger than James Bostic and Rudi Johnson though not by much. And he's not as big as Brandon Jacobs who was like 6'4 at 245+. He reminds me of those mentioned (Jerome Bettis and Mike Alstott) but also another great huge RB/FB... the Nigerian Nightmare, Christian Okoye

I fee like the obvious answer here Stephen Davis. Davis started his NFL career as a FB he was so big
