PMARSHONAU: Time for urgent action
High-level meetings Sunday involving Auburn athletics director Allen Greene, head football coach Gus Malzahn and administrators...
=================
My guess is that it involves assistants...

Per Longshore on AM740 out of Montgomery:

According to Marcello, the agency (CAA) that represents Gus was told yesterday to start trying to find Gus another job. Marcello got this from two high level sources of his.

Just as I suspected yesterday, this will be a process and they are going to try and make this look like a mutual decision and have that buyout cut way down since he will hopefully have another job lined up. The PR hit would come from the brand new deal Gus received if it was done any other way.

What are the subtle signs that an employee is about to leave?

Is he doing the same routines? Less effort on some and more on others? What is he not talking about? What are the other key heralds? Reddit could figure this out.

Someone sent me a screenshot of the Marcello post. Highlights below...

It has been mostly quiet, specifically on the status of assistant coaches, but I have been told something interesting from two separate people that I trust.....

Gus Malzahn has been told by the agency representing him (CAA) it might be wise to look for a job elsewhere if the opportunity arises. .........

The writing is on the wall for Gus Malzahn...... The Question Gus has to answer for himself is whether it is worth sticking around to make this thing work in year seven....

What do I think? I believe the people around him are trying to give him every possible option to weigh. The sharks are in the water. He knows it. But he also knows he holds all of the cards. He's the one who will be paid either way.

JGT just posted (I do have access to that).

"A group of influential people decided several weeks ago that Gus Malzahn no longer was fit to lead the football program. They have been working to dismiss Malzahn ever since. Their efforts are more intense now......."

"But my sense is that their plan will fall short due to ambivalence regarding Malzahn in other corners of the Auburn Sphere of influencers"

Goes on to say this it is 50/50 and he does not know how it will play out.

I just think it's stupid to try and make it look mutual to save face.

It doesn't save any face. Everyone knows what's happening (if it indeed does happen)

Thanks for posting. At least we know the wheels are in motion.

Gus has to choose: leave before next season or be fired at the end of next year (chances are unless a damn good line and Cam II and Bo II show back up).

This seems like a case of our “insiders” trying to act like insiders, but in the end are saying what we all speculated and that it’s 50/50.

This is as classic a case of subs site manufactured BS as I've ever seen. Y'all have fun getting into this one.

Gus is going to be our coach next year. Marcello's goofy attempts to drum up boiler room dramatics isn't going to change that.

I’ll ban bet anybody on this site that this isn’t happening. Matter of fact I’ll sweeten the deal, my permaban to your one year ban.

That's because it's not happening unless Gus finds another gig.

Remember after 2013 or 2014 when we were all worried about Gus getting hired by an NFL franchise?

Yeah, I am very skeptical. I think he gets next year. He will just pitch the "changes" he is making.

Why leave now? You have all the cards when it comes to contract.

And I am sure Gus thinks he can turn it around.
