Lake Allatoona is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir in Georgia, located in northwestern metro Atlanta. The lake is mostly in southeastern Bartow County and southwestern Cherokee County. A small portion is located in Cobb County near Acworth. Cartersville is the nearest large city to Allatoona Dam.
Glad I could help

There are also fish in the lake. My contribution.

What time of year are you looking at? If the area doesn't get much rain, by late summer/fall Allatoona can be down several feet. The same is true for most lakes in N. Georgia because of the various municipalities that draw water from them and/or the need to send water downstream.

I love allatoona, but know nothing about this place. We usually rent a pontoon a couple times a summer to go out and drink all day at party cove.

I am in Knoxville TN for a trade show till the end of the weekend. I will get you some info Monday if that is not too late.
Allatoona is a decent lake for fishing but like Lanier, it gets very busy during the summer with boating traffic.
I will get with you Monday after this trade show madness is over with

We've hosted a party at the Proctor's Landing Beach area for our track team. Nice covered picnic benches there right on the lake.
I'm really close to the lake, but do more running around it than I do on the lake or beaches.

Allatoona is a very muddy lake. Small width in the open areas. Lanier >>> Allatoona.

First of July will be busy anywhere in north Georgia. The problem with Allatoona is the narrow banks that get washed out very quickly in the summer

Its not that bad either place, if you are used to that type of boating. But like you and I said, Allatoona is narrow, so can be a pain. Lanier has enough space where you can at least find some peace. Like someone else said as well, if its dry, Allatoona can go down quick, but it also has much more draining into it, to fill up rapidly with a storm. Which also is another cause of the muddiness, all the run off.

Its about 3 miles from me. Unless you are going in the summer, this lake has zero fricking water in it. It basically gets drained in the winter by the Corps of Engineers. Theres a marina near me with boats sitting on dry lake bottom.
